M F Thompson and wife of the city found a pocket book at the Eagle Motel in West Chester. The owner, William Gill of Westtown, recovered it and returned it to Thompson. A few minutes before 9 this morning a dead newborn male infant four months old was found on Front Street and taken to the police station. no effort will be made to locate the mother.
A locomotive attached to the Baltimore mail southbound broke down near Moore's station this morning. An engine from Philadelphia was sent, the train arrived about an hour late, and the south bound Delaware line was delayed by around ten minutes.
A West Chester News reader from Bucks County reports Mrs. Cline recently gave birth to three healthy children, a bouncing boy and two rosy cheeked girls, each weighing nearly eight pounds. The couple planned to visit the trio last Saturday at their home near Trumbauerayville.
The new hose carriage at Water Witch Fire Company is at 8 D. Paschall’s carriage factory over Market Street. It is being repaired by removing the reel that carries the rope and replacing it with a trail rope.
L. W. Stidham and Son conducted a public sale of Harlan Cloud’s estate as advertised in the Gazette. The Chester County Pa home farm brought 160 dollars per acre, the Souff will farm near Faulkland sold for 70 dollars per acre, a nearby 50 acre tract at 60 dollars per acre, and a small woodland parcel at 67 dollars per acre.
In the U S Court this morning Judge Bradford presiding argument resumed in the case Swann Clark & Co versus H C Robinson asignee of Thomas J Graves. J H Hoffecker Jr opened for Swann Clark with Spruance and Lore for Robinson present. Trouble seems to be brewing in the Reformed Church of the Covenant.
Edward Cassidy, reportedly intoxicated, had two colored men load furniture from his home at Front and Poplar. Mrs. Cassidy intervened with bricks and later, with help from others, had the house cleared of furniture and carted away while Cassidy slept.
The Committee on Commerce weighs river and labor spending for the year. Congressman Ward says a $25,000 War Department appropriation should finish the Marcus Hook piers work. He expects the committee will approve the amount. State Senator Mylin and Senate Clerk Thos Cochran arrived in Washington.

An order of Guards of the State of ware directs sale of two parcels in Wendnan Delaware. The auction, to be conducted by Trustee IELD3 and Attest J M Housman, occurs Saturday at 2 PM from East Fourth Street Wendnan.
