A telegraph operator Obrien Smith visiting his parents in Stafford accidentally discharged his revolver while cleaning it. The bullet struck his mother in the head, who exclaimed I cannot believe you did this and died instantly. The incident occurred at a quarter past twelve today in Batavia.
