Yesterday morning the police court sentenced two men and an unknown drunk to fines for disorderly conduct and drunkenness. Two barefoot boys were sent to New Castle for thirty days. Mrs. Lapierre faced assault charges with a $1 fine and the mayor added $3 for contempt. This morning two drunks were tried. November saw 180 arrests across categories including drunkenness and vagrancy. A letter to the editor urged birth and marriage registration with a city registrar starting Jan. 1, 1880, while a lengthy critique accused Republicans of past financial misdeeds and called for restitution.
Joseph Leeds of Fifth and Adams streets was arraigned before Magistrate Cole for abusing his wife. He was fined $10 and ordered to pay costs, with jail if he defaults. An old nurse supplied the advice. The item ends with an advertisement for Dr Bull's Baby Syrup claiming to keep babies bright and cheerful with occasional doses.

Dr Greenleaf treated her at Mrs DuPont’s residence and she remains semi conscious. the wire was two inches lower and could have killed her.
County treasurer lists amounts received from collectors for 1879 taxes and names collectors with unpaid taxes. Records show payments totaling 972 054 78 and notes several collectors who have not paid any tax, including Jno Teena Christiana and A. G. Osborn among others, with locations in Appoqunimink and Red Lion.
A steam packet of the Electric Line traveling from New York to this city ran aground in the Delaware and Raritan Canal near Bordentown New Jersey on Saturday due to low water. The vessel was released at 5 this morning and is expected to reach its destination later today. No further actions were taken beyond detention.
