Wilmette officials intensify anti mosquito campaign with Health Commissioner Moore leading a village wide cleanup of catch basins and waters on public property. Village Manager Schultz and President Zipi push weed control ordinances and notices urging residents to remove breeding sites and protect motorists at intersections.
The Wilmette village trustees reach a settlement over water charges owed by the park board. The board refuses further payments and the village accepts terms, leaving the park board owing $1,617 to be liquidated.

Four young Wilmette men Earl Nelson Nathan Pancoast Dudley Lester and Tom McGinley on a camping trip near Battle Creek Michigan experienced a wreck when their Packard snagged on railroad rails and rolled onto its side. A passerby locomotive helped complete the job. The crew traded the damaged car for a newer temporary conveyance and continued their trip with no injuries reported.
The North Shore Players announce their 1924-25 season with tryouts on September 29 at Winnetka Community House. Sidney M. Spiegel Jr announces a skilled director from New York Chicago and a slate featuring Booth Tarkingtons The Wrenc and Bride Bells The Ve Idea The Ghost Breakers and Seven Keys to Baldpate. Proceeds will go to charitable causes, with no remuneration for the youth performers.
W. AK. Roe 85 Lindence president of Alden and company of Kago writes from Fort DeSoto Florida about catching a tarpon while vacationing. He notes Florida is comfortable and he spends much time tarpon fishing, saying the trip defies some summer impressions.
Publicity committee announces Amos C Miller of Evanston will be Defense Day speaker for Wilmette observance on September 12. Parade from Linden avenue station led by military band. Fire siren to signal flag display at 7 am. Events include boy scouts and a Yale University Press film The Declaration of Independence.
Funeral services for Herbert Al pine Bercher who died August 31 were held Tuesday afternoon at his former residence 1103 Ashland Avenue. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery. He is survived by his widow Mrs Ann F Be.
