Community Chest Drive Opens In Wilmette Village
The Wilmette Community Chest campaign kicks off Sunday November 13 with workers canvassing the village for a 50000 goal. Funds will aid local charities the Infant Welfare Society and Arden Shore Rest Camp with 25000 first collected allocated 15000 to Local Charities and 10000 to the two agencies, excess to Cook County Emergency Welfare fund. Led by Mrs Leslie F Gates the drive lists Ralph Durham as vice president and Dewey Anderson as treasurer with a large board and district captains organized into Areas A B and C including 15 districts and many volunteers across Wilmette.

Kenilworth Seeks Rail Stop Shelter
The Kenilworth Village board decided to ask the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee railroad to build a shelter at the northbound platform of the Kenilworth avenue stop. Trustee Porter Fox was appointed to pursue the project with railroad officials after input from the Kenilworth Neighbors favored a shelter at that location.

Merchants Boost Food Barrel Project in Wilmette
Wilmette merchants and customers back a Chamber of Commerce food barrel drive. Stores offer food barrel specials such as one cent extra items to encourage donations. Barrels are emptied by the Board of Local Charities and distributed to needy village families.

In New Trier, Hoover led with 12 261 votes and Roosevelt 5 399 as Illinois election returns show. Horner defeated Small 14 320 to 3 300 for governor while Courtney beat Swanson 10 641 to 6 755 for state's attorney.
