Armistice Day Observances by Wilmette Legion Post
Wilmette Post No. 46 American Legion sponsors a brief Armistice Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at Wilmette and Central avenues with a firing squad salute, followed by a program at the Wilmette theater including a 15 minute talk by Charles W. Schick and four reels of War Department films. An evening stag party at Sky Harbor airport clubhouse with dinner at 7 p.m. completes Armistice events. Post officers and guests from the WilmetteSunday Evening club will attend a Legion ritual and illustrated lecture by Carveth Wells at 7 p.m.

The First Congregational church of Wilmette will host Dr. W. P. Minton Sunday afternoon at 4 30 in Pilgrim hall. Representing the Christian church, he joins the Congregational church and serves in the General council of Congregational and Christian churches in the United States. Dr Minton is described as a leading religious figure with an uplifting message. The event is open to members and friends.

Freshmen Attend School Day At New Trier High
Freshmen will attend classes at New Trier High School today as part of a freshman PTA day. Sophomores juniors and seniors are dismissed. Parents of freshmen will visit, focusing on their children's enrolled classes. To increase father attendance the schedule starts at 3 PM and runs to 9 PM.

Post Office Ordered to Handle Own Unclaimed Mail
Washington issued order effective December 1 1933 directing all unclaimed and unmailable first class mail to be handled at first class post offices including the Wilmette office. Lower class offices forward to dead letter. Unclaimed money stamps held a month then deposited and stamps burned. Proceeds from sale of perishable matter and unclaimed parcels accrue to first class office revenue.

Township Collector Receives Extra Funds For Tax Work
New Trier township board of auditors approved a $200 increase in expenses for tax collector San born Hale after receiving $6,680.45 from the 1 percent over $800,000 collected. Hale had asked for the extra, citing added 1931 tax work, and the board invited him to December to set a definite 1932 payment.

Welfare Board Seeks Winter Clothes for Needy Families
The Wilmette Welfare board requests gifts of men's and women's winter clothing, children's underwear up to age eight, and bedding. Citizens should bring usable items to No. 1 Electric Place, call Wilmette 2550, and participate in distributing Thanksgiving baskets to needy families by providing names to volunteers.

Mrs Lois A Finney 833 Greenwood avenue was elected to the Wilmette board of education at a special election to fill a vacancy from the resignation of Mrs Elinor Craig. Finney won 269 votes while 83 write ins were for Harry Dornbos of 411 Linden avenue and 41 votes went to A T Bondy of 621 Harvard street.

Village Board Sets Bid For 24 Inch Water Main
At its Tuesday meeting the Village board authorized bidding on pipe and fittings for a 24 inch water main to run along Lake avenue from the water works to Ridge avenue. The main cost is to be funded by a $100,000 bond issue approved by referendum in 1931, of which $7,000 has been issued and the remaining $93,000 will be sold to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation.

Wilmette boards approves bone dry ordinance at meeting
The village board enacted a bone dry liquor ordinance prohibiting manufacture sale and exposure for sale of any beverage containing 0.5 percent or more alcohol. A large crowd debated the measure with petitions for and against and a post card referendum showing 80.7 percent support from the Wilmette Civic League.
