1933 Tax Bills Expected Next Month

Township Collector Sanborn Hale expects the 1933 general tax bills to go out in early next month. The township board designated the First National Bank of Chicago as depository and approved a $3,500 bond premium, under a new law passed last March. The township will also pay the collector one half of one percent on the township share of excess collections over $800,000.

The Wilmette theater, closed for a thorough renovation, will reopen Friday November 9 with Treasure Island. The venue is now under the management of Sam C Meyers of Wilmette and Teatro del Lago.

Wilmette Declares Armistice Day Ceremonies Plan

Wilmette to observe Armistice Day on Monday November 12 with a 10 30 a m ceremony on the Village hall lawn. Students from fifth to eighth grades will sing in the program followed by a moment of silence a firing squad salute and taps. The Rainbow Division film will be shown in the Wilmette theatre and a speaker will conclude the program. Rumors of Chief Brautigam’s possible replacement are denied by Village President C P Dubbs who urges strengthening the police department and notes cross cooperation with Winnetka.

Resume Story Hour at Wilmette Public Library

The Wilmette public library resumes its winter season of children's story hours every Saturday at 11 a.m. All grammar school children are invited. Librarian Beatrice Graham announces she has taken over from Mary Winner Hughes and previously worked in Wooster Ohio Port Huron Michigan and Cleveland libraries.

The Highcrest P T A will hold its next monthly meeting on Tuesday evening November 13 at the school.
