Dr. John T Stone to speak at Wilmette club March 3

Dr. John Timothy Stone president of the Presbyterian Theological Seminary and pastor emeritus of Fourth Presbyterian Church Chicago will address the Wilmette Sunday Evening club on March 3 his topic The Thrill of the Future He is a famed Midwest clergyman author of Footsteps in the Parish and other works Born in Boston he studied at Amherst and Auburn Theological Seminary and has held pastorates in several eastern cities before Chicago He also served as moderator of the General Assembly in 1913 and 1914.

World Day of Prayer Observed by Wilmette Churches

Women of Wilmette churches host a World Day of Prayer service at Wilmette English Lutheran Church on Seventh Street and Greenleaf Avenue. The one hour service begins at 2 pm with Mrs. J. H. Hopp leading, featuring the Baroness van Boetzelzer van Dubbeldam program, soloist Mrs. Hortense Lechler, organist Victoria G. McLeod, and speaker Mrs. E. H. Smith of Chicago.

Kenilworth Young People’s Meeting Slated March 3

The Kenilworth Young People’s Sunday Evening club will meet biweekly, with the next session on March 3. Chalk artist Mrs. Fimion Shaw and accordionist Miss Gagin headline the program, and supper will be served at 6:30 before the show.

Terms for Wilmette Public Schools board president Henry E. Cutler and members George E. Leal and Lois Finney end this spring. The three vacancies will be filled at the April 13 election. A nominating panel from local associations will likely name candidates next week.

Winter Sports Trip Ends For Chicago Groups

Mr and Mrs Fred Schroeder Jr of Wilmette along with Mr and Mrs Stanley Peirce and Mr and Mrs Donald Rogers of Glencoe returned from Eagle River Wisconsin where they spent the weekend enjoying winter sports at the Hiawatha lodge. The group also included Mr and Mrs Ade Schumacher and Mr and Mrs George Veeder of Evanston.

Shawnee Scandals of 35 Ready for the Playgoers

Shawnee plans a show titled Scandals of 35 to entertain locals. On February 22 a villager alerted police about boys breaking street lamps across the Tenth to Fifth streets area near Greenleaf to Isabella, with many lamps damaged. Police urge residents to report such acts to aid arrest and preserve public property.
