The Village of Wilmette secured a Cook county court judgment paying James E. Dempsey 32500 for a sixty foot wide parcel along the Chicago and North Western tracks from Main street at Elmwood Avenue to Fifteenth street. The sale clears the way for extending Main street toward Kenilworth and finishing Wilmette’s portion of the north shore through highway with Kenilworth similarly advancing its segment.

Dog Muzzling Ordinance Amended in Kenilworth
The Kenilworth Village board voted on Monday night to amend the dog muzzling ordinance. Dogs in the village will now be muzzled only from May 15 to September 15, replacing a year round requirement set after a prior rabies epidemic.

Church Appoints Committee to Aid in Relief Program
The Wilmette English Lutheran church forms a Committee on Unemployment and Relief with Gov. Emmer son’s commission. Walter Reisner chairs. Mrs. S. S. Smith Sr. and E. B. Knudtson also serve. Preparations wrap up for the Movie Tea benefit aiding Wilmette Board of Local Charities Northwestern University Settlement and New Trier Tri Ship Club. The event December 12 at Teatro del Lago features Lilliam a film donated by Mrs Clyde Eckhardt with a news reel and comedy followed by tea in the theater lounge. Tickets are sold in village drug stores and by organizers with participating sponsors from Chicago shops and local merchants.

The Village board on Tuesday night passed an amendment to designate Central avenue a through street from Sheridan road to the west line of Main street. The original ordinance had limited through status to the east line of Main street.

Wilmette village board approved a contract with R. C. Ruben of Glenview for garbage collection in 1931 at a cost of $12,390. Ten bids were submitted, and Ruben had the contract for the current year as well.
