Failure to Obtain Restraining Order Against Schultz and Nord Plant

Wilmette Approves Utility Franchise Renewal

Village board adopts a 25 year renewal with Public Service Company of Northern Illinois to operate Wilmette electric and gas services. New terms cap rates below those charged to other municipalities, promising a 10 percent rate cut for consumers starting December 15, 1928. Trustee Han von Reinsperg led negotiations securing the provision.

Walter Aschenbach of New Trier High School will travel by motor to Camp Owakonze in Canada for a fishing trip this week. The camp is run by W. L. Duke Childs, New Trier's director of athletics.

Wilmette Day Celebrates North Shore Festivities

Crowds thronged Wilmette on Wilmette Day with parades games and races on a hot Wednesday. Village President Earl E. Orner and trustees judged the parade as Kenilworth Winnetka visitors added to the turnout. Winners included Wilmette State Bank and Wilmette Ice Company for decorated entries and the Gross Point German band for humor. Howard Herbon and Jane Krier were named king and queen. The children's parade crowned Wattman Park groups and a top costume prize went to Loraine Vodez.
