Wilmette Adopts Local Traffic Ordinance Amid State Law Turmoil
The Wilmette village board passed an ordinance to regulate traffic within limits, setting penalties for violations by police magistrates and justices of the peace. It mirrors state law but preserves local enforcement authority and envisions fines up to 200 dollars for repeat offenses within a year. The measure targets habitual narcotics use or liquor impairment and bans reckless driving, with support as state changes loom.
