Police stop boxing match at Opera House amid chaos

Stricken minister Dr Truman F Allen dies at Minneapolis church

Rev Dr Truman F Allen of Thirteenth Avenue B E church Minneapolis collapsed during Sunday service and died later at home aged 63. He had just finished his sermon and hymn when he was stricken. Allen was a renowned Methodist preacher in Minneapolis and the Northwest with ties to Willmar and former congregation members in the area.

Resignation of Rev J P McCullough at St Luke's

At a special vestry meeting last Friday the resignation of Rev J P McCullough rector of St Luke's Episcopal church was accepted. The move takes effect tomorrow October 1 and he may accept a call to Janesville Minnesota after more than a year in Willmar where he joined in active pastorate and earned praise for diligence and moral leadership.

Willmar Street Fair entries and premiums totals

Secretary Markhus reports 538 entries for premiums at this year’s Willmar Street Fair with about 300 premiums awarded. Department counts include Class A cattle sheep and swine 10 Class B poultry and pet stock e Class C grain and seeds 37 Class D vegetables 82 Class E fruits 79 Class F bread cakes and pies Class G preserved fruit jellies and canned goods 86 Class H fine art and paintings quilts and rugs 151. The premiums list is being finalized for Saturday’s edition.

Sccullery Opens With Small Enrollment and Early Classes

The Sccullery began yesterday with 35 students enrolled and only bookkeeping sessions in the afternoon. Regular class work started today in most rooms as farming work delays send students to town fairs. Early Kandiyohi Settler Jorgen Jacobson Dies at 68

Jorgen Jacobson a longtime Kandiyohi county resident and early Whitefield settler died suddenly at home south of Willmar last Wednesday while resting after dinner. He suffered from long standing ailments and died from a complication of distresses and stomach trouble at age 68. He left a widow and three children Josie Jonnie and Borgvald. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Lutheran Free church with Rev E E Gynild officiating and burial followed in the church cemetery west of the city.

Dead man identified in Cassel Anchor report

H S Standley of Hope North Dakota identified the deceased as his brother J C Brandley of Marceline Missouri. The body matched clothing and description. the wife and child live in Marceline. Standley learned of the death from the Kimball Kodak and confirmed details on arrival. A separate na far warning notes a cloth seller scam preying on rural households with a dollar value offer and missing cloth.

Holm Nord case ends with not guilty verdict

In justice court Judge Otertensa presided over the Holm versus Nord case. Holm claimed Nord stole his buggy and demanded punishment, but testimony showed Erickson owned the buggy until paid, leading the court to find Nord not guilty. Jail Breaker Hanson Captured After Field Escape

Anders Hansen alias Pete Nelson the daring jail breaker was recaptured by Sheriff Lundquist near Russell while helping a farmer thresh. He resisted arrest claiming he would not be taken back alive, was jailed in Kandiyohi county and then sent to Willmar for a 90 day term with potential further jail breaking charges.
