Continental Railway Proposal Runs Through Kandiyohi County

Gulf Railway asks Kandiyohi to report township valuations to aid bond sales for a large Continental line. Wm T Smith chairs as president with M P Givens as secretary. Proposed route links Hudson Bay to the Gulf and Pacific, passing Roseau, Red Lake Reservation, Willmar, Sleepy Eye, and Emmet County Iowa, with Minnesota, Iowa and Missouri alignments under consideration. Local aid, right of way costs, and reception will largely determine feasibility and timing.

Surprise visit and purse gift in New London gathering

A surprise at the home of Mr and Mrs J E Erickson in New London welcomed Surprise Pastor Roy and Mrs Osterholm of Willmar along with others. A purse of 1025 was presented by thirty guests as a token of esteem. Harry Goldhamer, formerly a butter maker in Buffalo, Minnesota, has resigned and is visiting his home at Norway Lake. Barry plans to leave for Minneapolis in November to attend the School of Agriculture.

Minister Sibley to Lead Stockton Methodist Church

R BR Sibley, long at the Great Northern superintendent’s office in the city, will resign and move to Stockton Minnesota to head a Methodist congregation near Winona. The Minnesota Conference in Redwood Falls on Sept 30 will assign him to the Stockton post after prior trip to Tucson for family visit and business before starting in the new field.

Farewell Sermon For Rev Joseph Hogg At M E B Church

Rev Joseph Hogg of the Fourth Street M E B church will preach his farewell sermon next Sunday as he leaves Willmar for a new charge in Minnesota. He plans to attend the Northern Minnesota Conference in Duluth on October 1 where new appointments are announced. Hogg may accept a call to a Minneapolis church after two years in Willmar, where membership grew from eight to fifty four and the church thrived. He and his family depart Willmar around October 10.

Turner Buried Sunday in Military Funeral

The funeral of Joavo Turner was held Sunday afternoon at Andrew Peterson's undertaking establishment. Rev. Joseph Hogg officiated. Interment followed at Fairview cemetery. Members of Company D Fifteenth Minu. Regiment and Col. Heg Post G A R led the ceremonies, giving Turner a military burial with many veterans and citizens paying respects. Floral tributes included handsome arrangements from the G A R veterans.

Carl Paulson Becomes a Benedict in Velva Marriage

Willmar friends announce the marriage of Carl Wallace Paulson to Miss Rosg Celina Halley last Thursday at the bride’s Velva North Dakota home. After October 1 the couple will reside in Kensal North Dakota where the groom runs a general merchandise business. Paulson, formerly a salesman at the Sig Store in this city, has many friends who offer congratulations and good wishes.

Kandiyohi County to Benefit From State Aid Vouchers

Kandiyohi County will receive state aid vouchers for semi graded and rural schools totaling 8108 per district for nine rural schools including East Lake Lillian Roseland Holland St John Whitfield Be Johns Harrison and Harrison Cy Tevlag. Willmar High School also gains 1380. new rules require stricter standards for aid, including minimum attendance, book purchases, certified teachers, clean facilities and adequate heating and ventilation, with Webster's dictionaries required.

Death of Hace Halvorson At Norway Lake

Message from Norway Lake reports the death of Hace Halvorson about 5 40 am from stomach cancer and other complications. He was about 46, a respected community member. Funeral Saturday at 10 am with Rev Jordahl of the Lutheran Synod church officiating. burial in the local cemetery.

An Interesting Case Before Judge Abrahamson

The case of Jacob Haima ys A D and D DeLange was tried Tuesday afternoon and evening before Judge Abrahamson Isat. Attorneys Ericson for the plaintiff and Chas Johnson of Olson Johnson Willmar represented the defendants. A jury trial was requested, and after a long session the jury reached a verdict around midnight in favor of the defendants. The decision is to be appealed to the district court, Raymond News.

Robbed on Train In Minnesota Man Loses Cash Notes

I $ ROBBED ON TRAIN J A Johnson of Willmar Minn alopping at Brunswick hotel robbed of notes and cash totaling 465 yesterday morning enroute to this city on a Great Northern train. Expert thief suspected as Johnson did not notice the loss until Minneapolis. Pocketbook contained 25 each to two men no endorsed check for 140 drawn on First Nations bank Chicago by J I Case Threshing Machine Co and a 300 draft on Willmar National Bank. Marriage Unites Simon Ekbom and Augusta Erickson

On Wednesday evening at the bride's brother home in Minneapolis the marriage joined Simon Ekbom of Lake Elizabeth and Augusta Erickson of St Paul. The ceremony was led by Pastor Shulene of the Swedish Baptist church, a former Grove City pastor now serving as a missionary. The bride, a respected St Paul citizen, has long been active in the First Swedish Baptist church. the groom is a well known Lake Elizabeth resident. The couple arrived from Minneapolis and homed in Lake Elizabeth.

Mothers Meeting Invites Willmar Mothers at School
