The fair includes regular church services next Sunday and an art exhibit at the old Peter Gon & Wellin store. Bonde Hall hosts a nightly carnival ball by the Carur wll Orchestra, conducted by B. R. E. McCabe. Local trains run east of Minot with nine stock trains. A dog named Rags at the depot suffered an injury but continues to roam. Editor Berghuis of the Clara City Herald toured Alberta and found crop prospects strong. Municipal Court cases include Nils Alvig found not guilty and L Rodlin set for next Tuesday over weed-cutting notices.

A wedding was held last Saturday evening at Henry Parsons 602 First Street as Hattie Parsons daughter of Peter Parsons wed Elmer Hedman the local G N ticket agent. Rev A G Hall of Swedish Baptist church officiated in a sparsely attended ceremony under a bell of sweet peas. The bride wore pale blue crepe de chine with Valenciennes lace and roses attended by Mary Ahlstrom. Henry Parsons served as best man. The couple will keep house in the Parsons residence and are praised by friends.
The Willmar Tribune printery completes the first Willmar city directory to be delivered late this week. It lists 1 605 wage earners, implying a population over 5 000, with each entry giving occupation, street address, and telephone if available, plus a city map. Copies priced at $1.00. Swedish Mission Church announces services next Sunday September 22 at 11 am and 8 pm.
Foreman John T. Ritchie was killed last Saturday morning while lifting a switch pin between cars at the east end, six cars passing over him before the train could stop. He came to the city in 1905 and leaves a wife, a Fond du Lac family, and many friends. The incident prompted funeral services with O R C and railroad conductors in attendance.
Miss Minnie Hendrickson begins seven month school term in Dist No 92 while boarding at the Lindgren home. Irving creamery and nearby skimming stations plan milk only on M W F S. The Paetznick bridge in Roseville gets stonework repairs by Erick and Paul Olson. Buttertown merchants report brisk business and Michael Pederson returns from Norway. Farmers consider building a Ha wick elevator as Nels Kjostelson's widow dies in Hawick. North Star Telephone extends line to New London with a city bonus. Willmar Seminary adopts Gregg shorthand and touch typing with six to nine month courses.
Fire destroyed the New London Milling Co elevator at Slan on Monday night burning about ten o’clock. It held 15 000 bushels capacity with 5000 bushels wheat and 4000 oats inside. The structure was consumed within an hour with an estimated $8000 loss mostly insured. C Nordgren managed the elevator and saved the company office tanks. Debris included a thunderstorm also striking Pipestone depot and Thelan Bros mill at Freeport. The text notes a man’s father death in Cedar Falls and two travel notes about Mrs Frederickson and Clara Hong.
George Mullen conductor for Great Northern was fatally injured near Clearwater two miles from Minneapolis when the train broke and he was pinned between the couplings while he was servicing the car. He died at St Mary's hospital in St Paul after a brief conscious period. Mullen, 27, from Campbell Minnesota, had been promoted to conductor last November after serving as brakeman since joining in 1908. He lived at Strawn residence 302 Second Street. Funeral held the prior Monday with many Breckenridge trainmen attending. He belonged to B R T and O R C and Eagles, carrying 1300 in B R T and 200 in O R C. His brothers A G, R B and W J Mullen are brakemen out of this city.
Mr and Mrs August Hoglund were surprised by about forty neighbors at their 817 Third Street home on Monday evening. Samuel Nelson spoke for the group and presented a mahogany center table as a token of esteem while the ladies provided refreshments and guests departed.
During a Sunday night storm the Anton Viehl barn in Irving was struck by lightning and burned to the ground. The 4060 foot structure housed 75 tons of hay, three calves, and several chickens, with only horses saved. Total loss about 1700 dollars, with 800 dollars insured.
Sunburg notes multiple local activities including services at Spring Creek church conducted by Rev. M. A. Sotendahl, sickness in Mrs. Tosten Sagedahl, Dena Quamme sewing for Mrs. K. Sondrol, and C. Moen shipping livestock from Brooten. Also reported are visits, harvest notes, and community movements involving Lena Poverud, John Hystad, Edward Wick, Sophia Jorgenson, George E. Negaard, and Henry Hanscom, with health and work changes and speculation on Negaard’s future business location.
The junior class voted for officers with Charles Adams as president Caroline Hodgson as president and Mary Jes vite Young as treasurer. Seniors re elected Victor Selyige as president with Sather as secretary and Walter Stahl as treasurer. New members Laura Ames Warren Oram and Walter Stahl joined this fall. Glee club met last Thursday and football practice began noting team speed and teamwork as priorities for a likely winning season. Edwin Sletten is team captain and Warren Oram serves as manager.
Five boilermakers with one apprentice and three helpers left St. Paul on Sunday at 8 am after two months of wage talks. Union members sought 88 cents an hour for ten hours, or 45 cents for nine. Roads offered nine hours at 41 cents, which the union rejected, prompting the strike.
Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Ackerman and Florence Julian paused en route yesterday, wedding bells echoing at Immaculate Conception Church in Cloud. They head to Gerretson South Dakota where the groom runs a jewelry business beside his brother Al Fritz, former Great Northern switchman. P. D. Gates returns to Milwaukee after two weeks visiting his family in this city and Green Lake. he is a teller at the West Side Bank.
