Willmar to Close For a Day Amid National Proclamation
The Willmar business district will shut down Thursday September 19 1901 as ordered by the President and Governor. James V McHugh of Minnesota and Western Elevator Co visited to inspect the new terminal elevator due to be ready in about three weeks. Prominent Citizen Solomon Porter Dies in Kandiyohi County
Solomon Porter ex county treasurer of Kandiyohi County died Tuesday evening after a long illness. Born December 31 1844 in Smaland Sweden he came to America 1854 and served in the Third Minnesota Regiment from 1864. Porter faced a major setback when a county safe robbery cost him his bondsman funds but he repaid all debts and continued public service.
