County Fair Nears With Industrial Contests And Exhibits

The Kandiyohi County Fair schedules an extensive industrial contest among Willmar Atwater New London Raymond and Svea with 360 entries across 72 prizes. Industrial Day features talks by Prof George H Howard and a strong poultry exhibit, plus new stock pens tents and demonstrations.

Lost finger amputated in hay bucket accident

Emil Hedin son of A M Hedin of Lake Lillian had the first finger of one hand caught in a hay bucket last Thursday afternoon. The finger was amputated. He is staying at the Peter Larson home in this city while his hand is treated.

Spicer Train Accident Injures Foreston Man

Struck by the water tank spout on an extra Sandstone and Willmar division train 1221 at Spicer Saturday at nine o clock, Leo Kennedy, a brakeman, sustained a deep back head wound needing stitches and bruises. Treated at Bethesda hospital in Willmar. Kennedy, of Foreston, Minnesota, is recovering well with his mother present. His father and brother visited later, traveling from Foreston.

The Young People's society of the Lutheran Free church and friends held a surprise party at 995 Paravenue Friday evening for Selmer Al Berg. About 35 attended, enjoying music and games before a luncheon. Berg received a useful gift and left early yesterday for his claim near CutBank, Montana.

Nurse Remembered at Wilmer Hospital Birthday Party

Mrs. June McDonald head nurse at Wilmer hospital was delight rised last evening by friends in celebration of her birthday anniversary. A luncheon was served on small tables with pink carnations. Guests left seven pieces of cut glass as tokens of esteem.

Harry Otos Loses Leg In Switching Accident

Just before press time we report that Harry Otos switching foreman was crushed beneath cars he was moving and lost his left leg above the knee. He was taken to Bethesda hospital where surgeons operate. He was recently married and is the son of Burton Otos, the barber, and is held in high regard by fellow workers. Kandiyohi County booth at the State Fair attracted crowds. judges ignored beauty, awarding county exhibit a prize of about 141 dollars despite a total score of 934.
