Big County Fair Week Begins At Ennis Trackside

The county fair kicks off next week at Ennis with entertainment on opening day featuring Henderson and the Tamous Shale. A community night includes a stage show, vendors, races, and a Thames event with tree-for-the-hay and other attractions.

Dassel vs Willmar at local ball park Sunday

The Nassel team will play Willmar at the local park Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. It is described as a fast game with Dassel having won most games this season. Also notes Bethel Y P S meeting detail and a series of marriage licenses issued in late August and early September.

School Notes Details Enrollments and New Facilities

A British district report notes teachers prepared for a return to the Wilbar school system with the 1920 41 reopening. Enrollment at the Junior High stood at 184 with absences. rooms across the system anticipate full occupancy. The new building remains incomplete and contractors are shipping to finish in about three weeks. Grade movements include third and fourth grades moving to Conttil SoviT once space is ready, with a half day for now at Lincoln Ludding. The new laboratory and equipment purchases span typing machines for the Commercial Department and a popular commercial course. Football practice begins with a large squad as locker rooms are not ready. gymnasiums near completion with lines painted for events. Several staff changes include Miss Florence Lockerby joining the sixth grade in the Industrial Building.

Organized Labor staged a large Labor Day celebration in Willmar last Monday with a parade under Alderman Freeberg. Gale Playman and Homer Cook spoke, the 2:30 parade featured dozens of union floats and a Fort Worth style band.

Freeman Wins Green Lake Handicap Golf Meet Cup

Dr. G. H. Freeman won the Golfer's Magazine Silver Loving Cup at Green Lake Country Club after a 72 hole handicap tournament. Freeman and Sophus Larson topped eliminations, split an 11 hole playoff, with Freeman taking the cup as Anderson finished third amid a largely Willmar field of about 26 golfers. The finals were held on Labor Day signaling the season’s end.

Priam Sports Feature Two Games Next Sunday

Two Sunday events at Priam open with Married Men of Priam versus St Johns and Priam facing De Graff at two o clock. M C Samuelson of Willmar meets Barney Hagen of North Dakota in wrestling. A six horse relay and other lively events precede a pillow fight with grounds refreshment. Svea Ladies Aid hosts Sept 10 at J P Johnsons. Willmar Club Discusses Housing and Band Prospects

At a Commercial Club meeting the urgent need for additional housing was outlined with reports from investigating committees. If housing can be provided Willmar could house about two hundred families, addressing acute hotel capacity. The meeting also focused on stabilizing the Willmar Band, appointing a committee to secure pledges for its continuity. The Ladies of the W C T U will maintain a free Mothers Rest Room at the County Fair auditorium for mothers and children. Weekend visitors included Miss Esther Tallman hosting Corrine Dickey and Mr George Hefflefinger, with others arriving for visits. Funeral services were held for Gudmund P Karwand with Rev E E Gynild and others speaking. Interment was at Fairview. attendees included several relatives from across states.
