County Fair Preparations Signal Big Four Day Harvest Festival

The County Fair organizers report extensive preparations for a four day harvest festival with exhibits of produce, races, free acts, and artistic booths. Improvements include stock shelters, a new hog barn, a water works system, and a temporary grand stand along the racetrack with seating. Road changes require traffic on the north side. the south road closure is noted. Festivities promise better events and additional amusements as preparations continue.

Marriage Licenses Posted for August Approvals

Christensen Made Good Impression at Willmar Rally

Varney P Christensen, Farmer Labor candidate, drew a sympathetic crowd at the Willmar courthouse grounds Saturday. Mrs Murphy Maker attended, urging improved conditions for women, while Miss Esther Somerville’s farewell was hosted by friends in Atwater with an ivory clock gift.

Labor Day Fun At Community Celebration Races

The town plans a packed Labor Day with pie eating, a new vole race, sack and tug of war events, rolling races, and threewalled races. There will be prizes and crowd participation as spectators enjoy baseball and other games, plus a fresh entertainment slate in the afternoon.

Labor Day Celebration Planned in Willmar

A large Labor Day program will be held in Willmar on Monday Sept 6 with a parade from Fifth Street to Homewood Park. The program includes a band concert at the court house, a speaking program, sports for children, a baseball game Willmar vs Fort Snelling, and a fireworks display. Medical Men Meet at Annual Outing

The Central Minnesota Medical Association held its annual summer outing at Green Lake Country Club with about fifty attendees from Swift, Meeker and Kandiyah counties. Wives organized a Ladies Auxiliary led by Mrs. C L Scofield of Benson. A program featured papers by Drs Branton, Robertson, Kaufman, Scofield, and Wilson, followed by a substantial meal.

School notes outline fall registration and boundaries

School opens Tuesday September 7 at 9 am for registration. Teachers meet Monday at 2 80 pm. 7th to 9th graders register at the new junior high, 10th to 12th at the senior high. Conditional exams Sept 7 at 1 30 pm. Lincoln pupils report Tuesday morning. Boundary lines assign Laf ayette Garfield Lincoln Central and West Central schools. Building nears completion, two weeks of adjustments remain.

Willmar Labor Day Observance Scheduled by City

Willmar citizens are urged to observe Labor Day on Monday September 6 with a public demonstration in the afternoon and evening. Local labor groups representing fourteen crafts have arranged entertainment and speakers. Businesses are asked to close by noon to allow participation. Dated Willmar September 1 1920. New Pastor to Arrive and Preach First Sermon

Rev B A Lagerstrom has accepted the pastorate at the local Baptist Church and will arrive this week to deliver his initial sermon next Sunday. He previously served five years at Alcaster South Dakota. See church notice for details. Goldman Rod Farmers Club plans a meeting next Friday Sept 3 at 8 pm in Dist 44 school house with a program and refreshments. Everyone welcome. Willmar celebrates the Nineteenth Amendment with a five minute noon demonstration as steam whistles sound and flags fly.
