Twenty Men Rob Freight Train on Sioux City Line

Twenty men held up train No. 572 on the Sioux City division near this city last Friday night at 11:30. The robbers, two swarthy men with torches and guns, emptied pockets, searched victims, and fled with a haul hidden in a mattress. Suspects Patrick Murphy and Joseph Schweikert were later arrested after a bank draft linked them to Hanley Falls. Victims, including Walter Melcher of Cincinnati, provided firsthand accounts before two men were bound over to the grand jury.

Kandiyohi County Fair Racing Schedule Notes

The Kandiyohi County Fair announces a multi day racing program from Sept. 15 to Sept. 18. Ford race pays 25 dollars for best time, various horse trotting and pacing events with purses up to 200 dollars, motor cycle races, and entry details ending with close at 7 p.m. Sept. 15. William Bomsta Dies At Roseland After Illness

William J. Bomsta of Roseland died last Thursday at St Luke's hospital aged 84. Born in Balsfiord Niway on September 15, 1861, he married Miss Jerickson on October 25, 1806. Survived by two sons, two brothers John H and Henry H, and three sisters Mrs Enoch Gunner Mrs Sarah Nelzog and Mrs Mary Skinner. Funeral at the Baptist church with Rev Jacobl ing officiating.

Library Tag Day At County Fair To Aid Willmar Public Library

Public Library Board votes another tag day on Friday September 17 during the County Fair which will likely be Willmar Day. Prizes for top fundraisers include a gold wrist watch kodak ivory toilet set and more with details on display at Peter son Wellin's show window. Other local items note Bethel YP S meets September 8 with a program and refreshments. Lutheran Free Ladies plan a meeting September 8 with hostesses. residents travel to Minneapolis and Duluth. and church helpers prepare a program and refreshments for Friday meeting.

New York Central Train Tours Willmar Pastures

A New York Central train bound for the American Bankers Association stopped at Willmar on Monday afternoon at 2 30, after a stop in the city. President Louis W. Hult of the Great Northern arranged an auro ride for the delegation to view Minnesota farms including Dan Haley’s threshing operation and a Black Polled cattle herd. The visitors toured by auto to Green Lake road and Peterson corner, with observers noting the trip as a notable excursion through rural Willmar and nearby countryside.
