Bank Burglars Fail To Steal From Kerkhoven Bank
Burglar gang attempted to blow open the time lock safe at the State Bank of Kerkhoven yesterday morning. They used nitroglycerine on outer doors and damaged the vault area but left without booty after explosions. Night man and local residents heard noises and alerted the cashier. the robbers escaped via the rear and street toward town, leaving two or more men unaccounted for. The heist occurred between 1:30 and 2:30 am with possible observer suspicion on a stranger. The incident caused about 150 dollars in damage and brief disruption to local business.

Burglars entered Orred Anderson's store in Spicer ransacking the postoffice and money drawer but left little cash. They damaged the store and postoffice safes, took a few pennies and stamps, some coats, and fled toward New London after driving a team up to the rear. Local reports note loud night noises, footprints, and no clear clues as press time.
