Thug Attacks Road Policeman in North Rails Yard
Great Northern policeman John Botnen was attacked by a thug in the north railroad yards Saturday evening between 8:30 and 8:45. The assailant struck him with a sandbag, fired a pistol shot, then fled. Botnen, wounded but conscious, sought treatment and was moved to his rooms.

The annual De gree of Honor Seventh District convention met in Willmar with 125 guests at a banquet prepared by Mrs. James Sanderson. The afternoon included a School of Instruction and a tableau, with 80 lodge members present. Grand President Lois Geiser led sessions, officers were not elected, and 16 candidates were initiated. The Willmar Choral Society held the initial rehearsal for Handel's Messiah Tuesday evening at the Synod church basement. Director Prof David Nyvall of Minneapolis attended and praised the result. Rehearsal time was moved to 7 30 from 8, with about 100 voices planned. auditions are open to strong singers, especially tenors and basses. The group voted to rent the Synod Lutheran basement for rehearsals and music orders will be placed this week.

Friends fail to rob their pal near Fairview Cemetery
Two harvest hands from North Dakota attempted to ambush George Milch near Fairview Cemetery on Wednesday evening. Milch, who carried 175 in travelers checks, fought back, fled, and was treated for bruises at Willmar Clinic. Milch, heading to Rochester for Mayo Hospital care, was from Washington state. He left Willmar Thursday morning. Mrs Max C Lewis and Henry returned Friday after a trip through Wisconsin and parts of Iowa. The speedometer on Mr Lewis's Cadillac showed 735 miles round trip.

Dr. B. J. Branton and Dr. P. C. Davison left Saturday for Philadelphia to attend the American College of Surgeons conference. Both were accepted as Fellows in the eminent circle of top surgeons, with formal exercises to be held tomorrow. Rev and Mrs John S Nordell will leave this county and state en route to Sweden after resigning from Fabian Baptist church. They will visit North Dakota points before sailing from Jersey City. Tragic death of Raymond Oestreich at Pennoack farm
Raymond B D Oestreich, 23, committed suicide with a hot gun on his family farm two and a half miles west and one mile north of Pennoack. His father found him face down on the porch. he died soon after. Cause unknown though he had been ill for two years and recently worked in the fields. Survivors include his parents H C and his mother, a sister, and brother Albert Nis.
