Johnson of Willmar marries Miss Nettle M Norton of Fergus Falls. Ceremony Sunday at 4 at the bride's parents home in Priberg township. Decorated with autumn leaves roses and carnsilona. Rev Wadholm performs the Baptist rite. Couple to tour St Paul Granite Falls and Mayford then settle in Willmar where the groom works at the Wilmer Tribune.

Visits Old Home and Praises Train Rescuer Dave Abbott

R D Abbott of Lemvenworth Washington visits friends near Green Lake and east of the lake. Known as Dave to friends, he saved a train and passengers from disaster in the faccade tunnel about a year ago. Abbott, raised near Green Lake, trained as a teacher before becoming an engineer with Great Northern.

Presbyterian Services Memorial Day in New Territory

The church designates Sunday Oct 30 as Memorial Day of the Louisiana Purchase and a Day of Thanksgiving for Home Mission Accomplishments. At 10 30 a m the pastor preaches in German for the occasion and at 7 30 pm the Song and Preaching service begins a series on Some Typical Conversions with topics including The Conversion of an Army Captain and The Conversion of a Thief. A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend.

State aid awarded to Kan- dyi county rural and semi-graded schools

County Superintendent Dobbyn announces state aid grants to rural districts 24 33 45 58 64 65 70 77 79 81 88 89 90 96 89 102 and semi-graded 26 at Spicer 46 at Kandiyohi 93 at Pennock totaling 10 rural and 3 semi-graded schools this year. Last year 7 rural and 1 semi-graded received aid. improvement praised.

Willmar Considers New City Gymnasium Enterprise

A well attended meeting discussed establishing a gymnasium in Willmar with broad support. Emanuel Christenson elected temporary chairman and Wm White as temporary secretary. a committee including Jacob Nelson Peter Heimdahl A A Green J Skelton and Geo Hanscom will draft a charter by a Friday meeting. Initiation is one dollar with future plan to raise to three dollars. 36 members have joined as charter members.

Synod Y. P. S. Meets at Thorpe Residence

The Synod church Young People's Society held a Monday evening meeting at the M. Thorpe home. Rev. J. N. Anderson accepted the call and spoke to the group. The program included a society paper titled Twister, noted for its twisted humor and up-to-date wit, likened to Nye, Perkine, or Twain. The group extended welcome to the new contributor to the paper.

Had Right Eye Removed In Shuck Farm Accident

Marinus Bosch and his father J B Bosch traveled from Priauburg to Minneapolis for surgery after a farm accident October. A shotgun blast severed his right eye while a brother fired near him. Doctors in Minneapolis determined the eye could not be saved and removed it. The operation at Northwestern hospital was successful.

New Library Adds Wide Range of Donated and Purchased Works

The public library increases its collection with numerous purchased and donated titles. Purchases include works by Unknown, R. W. Hambers, J. W. Riley, C. K. Burrow, Nye Riley, H. B. Batfield, J. Jobson, W. Churchill, and many others. Donated items feature the Monday Afternoon Club gift, the Ridpath Library of Universal Literature, and works by Darwin, Ruskin, Thackeray, Dickens, and Moody among others.

A crowd gathered Saturday night at First Street to honor Torjum and his wife as friends threw a surprise farewell party before their move to Owatonna next month. Miller and Jacobson Wed in Irving Ceremony

Miss Andria Miller and Jacob P. Jacobson of Irving were married last Saturday at the judge of probate’s office. Judge Nord in performed the ceremony. After visiting relatives in Swift County the couple will reside on the groom’s farm in Irving with friends extending congratulations.

Mass meeting seeks state aid to extend Lake Lillian ditch

A large gathering of farmers from the southeastern county met at Thorpe school house in East Lake Lillian on Saturday to press for extension and completion of the Lake Lillian ditch. They petition the state drainage commission for aid to lower widen and extend the five miles into Meeker county, arguing the original construction left the water without outlet. Notables present included Hon. L O Thorpe Hon. Henry Pelg and B F Jenness.

High School Notes and Debating Plans

Examinations were held in various subjects last week as teachers were hosted by Prof. Tanning. A Sophomore class color choice of beige and blue was noted. Two debating teams are formed with plans for an immigration debate led by Wallace Martin and others on the affirmative side against Victor Knutson and peers. If teachers attend Granite Falls educational convention, there will be no school Friday.
