Farmers' National Congress forms in Rock Island meeting

The twenty sixth Farmers' National Congress met in Rock Island October 9 to 12. President Stahl opened sessions with remarks on agricultural interests and national wealth from farm products. He urged protection, fair law enforcement, and a broader share of national wealth for farmers and workers.

Auto accident injures four year old in Benson avenue area

A four year old, daughter of Mr and Mrs Brede Johnson, was run over by a car on Benson avenue near Berkness Patagon and Lee Store Friday afternoon. She suffered a badly fractured leg and other injuries but the driver, An laren Hedin, was not to blame after a quick stop and police and medical aid responded. The paper also reports a marriage at C L Collins home and a political candidate filing in Willmar, with local social notes and theater notices.

Governor Johnson Speech Impresses Attendees at Opera House

A large audience braved bad weather and poor roads to hear Gov. Johnson discuss key issues in a masterly speech at the opera house. Although short due to travel to Litchfield, the address clearly outlined accomplishments and future plans, drawing praise from the crowd and acknowledgment of Republican colleagues. Married Monday in Granite Falls ceremony reaches few relatives

William Grandjean wed Miss Gertrude Stoppe at the bride’s aunt Mrs Geiebler’s Granite Falls home in a small ceremony officiated by Rev Todd. They plan a wedding trip and may settle in Willmar or Sioux Falls amid local congratulations.

Struck by Westbound Flyer Injures Swede Hill Lady

Mrs. John Hf. Erickson of Swede Hill was struck by west bound Flyer No. 3 at the Tenth street railroad crossing. She suffered a second finger fracture of the right hand, cuts and bruises, and clothing torn. She was found semi conscious, removed to a nearby house then returned home, with injuries likely keeping her off work for some time. Four local boys helped locate her after the incident.

Willmar City Council Holds Regular October 22 1908 Meeting

Willmar Minnesota city council met in regular session with Mayor and eight Aldermen present. Bills were approved after Finance committee review, including payments for street labor materials and public works. Resolutions authorized warrants for improvements and readings of ordinances discussed street grading from Trott Avenue. A new street commissioner was elected to replace the resigned Peter Bonde and salary set at 60 dollars monthly. The building committee presented plans for a city lock-up and bids to follow upon state board approval. A night patrolman appointment was confirmed and other routine city business concluded.
