Accident injures Alton Sperry near Willmar farm
Alton Sperry son of Mr and Mrs ACH Sperry of Willmar was seriously injured when a misfired shotgun exploded while he was returning it to its case after a hunting trip near the city. He suffered severe facial lacerations and was rushed to Willmar Hospital where doctors reported the danger of infection subsided and his condition improved. Sperry, a Great Northern brakeman, is praised by comrades for a fortunate outcome amid the accident and ongoing recovery.

Tragic end to Windom Willmar football game
Herbert Holmes 18 of Big Lake Minn died from a brain bleed after an injury in the third quarter of Montevideo sparked game between Windom Institute and Willmar High School. Holmes died at 6 45 p m Sunday after being rushed to hospital. Services held at Windom Institute. body sent to Glenwood for burial. Willmar officials attendance noted.

The Covenant Society of the Lutheran Free Church met Monday evening October 19 in the church parlors. A six oclock supper was served to guests followed by a program including devotional exercises violin solo vocal duet by Thorwald and Igewald Rykken and choir numbers. Former Irving resident killed near Anoka
Elias Christenson, about 55, who lived on the Hans Peterson farm in Irving until a year and a half ago, was killed at a farm near Anoka on Sunday October 4. He went to feed pigs, failed to return, and was found in the cattle yard with a broken neck and facial bruises. He died five minutes after being brought inside. It is thought he was gored by a bull. Christenson long resided in Irving town and is survived by four children and his wife who died fourteen years ago. Funeral was held at Nordland church in Irving with Rev. E. M. Hanson officiating. Relatives attended.

Smith Pleads Guilty and Is Fin ed
Charles Smith changed his plea to guilty on a manslaughter in the second degree charge. He was fined 450 dollars, which he paid. In State vs Hawkinson, the defendant pled guilty to selling liquor wholesale in Harrison Township and paid a 50 dollar fine. The grand jury reconvened and the Sterling Securities cases are expected to proceed, with multiple defendants to be tried separately. A strong legal team and the assistant attorney general will aid the defense.
