District Meet Sparks Rally in Willmar Auditorium

A rousing district meet in Willmar attracted a large audience as Rev. Kvale and Mrs. Susie Stugeberg spoke on district plans and the Nonpartisan League. Debates featured Volstead related disputes, with Rev. Kyale challenging a joint debate and audience engagement lasting well past his remarks.

Obsequies for Pioneer Woman Eva Norman Rydin Held Sunday

The funeral of Eva Norman Rydin born 1842 in Sweden was held Sunday with services at her home and Mamre church. Rev. Bergquist and Holmquist spoke, Samuel Nelson sang, pallbearers named, and many autos accompanied the cortege. She married twice, raised eight children, and left a large family including nineteen grandchildren. Her life was described as cheerful and charitable.

District 51 visit and civic lunch supports warm meals

County Nurse Miss Imsdahl visited District 51 on October 12 with teacher Miss Hannah Knudsen for a pupil recital and music by Miss Edith Larson. A talk followed and lunch was served, deciding to provide warm lunches in winter. Also memorial and local notices, a funeral for Selma Regina Rykken and Halloween dance plans at Masonic Temple.

Bomsta and Anderstrom couples unite in marriage at the Swedish Baptist parsonage with Rev B C Lagerstrom officiating. The bride wore white crepe de chine and carried white roses. Gladys Nelson was bridesmaid. Asa Bomsta served as groomsman. They will reside in Minneapolis. An October 25 reception follows at the home of Alma Knock.

Willmar City Team Faces Glenwood in Season Opener

Local sports note previews a big opening game next Sunday at New Ball Park east of the city. Glenwood, led by Petrie, brings university level stars and 15 players to meet Willmar City Team, a mix of college stars and high school athletes, in a highly anticipated clash expected to draw the largest crowd in local gridiron history.

Young man injured by kick of horse

Andrew Ruddy was kicked while haltering a horse in the yard by Hugh Ruddy's home. He was knocked down and bled, crawled to a car, and drove to Davison Hospital where eight stitches were needed for the lips and three for the nose. He is recovering and hopes to remove the traces of the mishap. Also, Miss Cecelia Dolan and Mrs Dolan of Danvers visited relatives Wednesday.
