Council urged to determine rights to dam Foot Lake
At Monday's council meeting a Commercial Club letter urged confirming the city’s rights to dam Foot Lake. City Attorney Porter noted Robbins v city will be heard before Judge Powers and actions depend on his ruling. The club also called for abating the public nuisance of a shed at the Kelly and Sanderson livery barn. The matter was sent to the board of health for investigation and possible removal if the nuisance proves true. Next, Miss Barbara Williams survived an oxalic acid incident after a wrong bag was opened for epsom salts. antidote soda and prompt medical care prevented lasting harm.

Willmar to Welcome New Candy Store and Factory
Willmar will soon host a candy store and factory launched in about two weeks by Greek businessman Peter Chakires. He will be aided by nephews Ernest and Earlos Berbes, setting up in the former Telstad grocery building on Fifth Street. Chakires plans local production and a sales push beyond Willmar if the venture succeeds. John M. Spicer orders a grand vault from Shipstead & Johnson Bros. in Spicer Minn. The Vermont granite vault includes Italian marble and mosaic tile, measuring 12 by 19 feet with a 14 foot height, weighing about 240,000 pounds.

Rev Buell Resigns to Lead Santa Paula Church
Rev H C Buell, pastor of the Willmar Presbyterian Church for six and a half years, resigns to become pastor in Santa Paula California due to Mrs Buell and daughter Margaret’s bronchial illnesses. The family plans a November departure with Buell preaching a farewell sermon on November 21. The church has grown under his leadership with 297 members and 312 Sunday scholars, plus increased benevolences and funds for a pipe organ and heating plant. Santa Paula’s grove country and pleasant climate welcome the Buells as the Glen City of southern California.

Willmar edged Litchfield 17 to 8 in a spectacular football clash. Litchfield led early with a 20 yard field goal, but Willmar’s rally in the last 12 minutes produced three touchdowns, with Carlson and Hansoncomb key gains and Hornbeck adding two extra points. The win boosts Willmar’s open style attack as they prepare for Montevideo next Saturday with coach Udell insisting on a strong turnout.

Sandbo Again Buys Delmonico Cafe
E T Sandbo regained ownership of the Delmonico cafe last Wednesday with Walter Hoglund stepping down after January. This marks the fourth time Sandbo has bought back the Delmonico, but he plans to hold it permanently. Hoglund may relocate to Minneapolis to work in Yerxa Bros. meat department. Philip Gates returns from Milwaukee for a 10 day visit and trains under Dr Protheroe while preparing to study at the Chicago conservatory. he will perform at Episcopal church services next Sunday. Ole Johnson now runs the Eagle confectionery, as special administrator of Nels M Johnson estate pending final settlement.
