Willmar Red Cross aids forest relief and local activities
The Willmar Red Cross Society held its October meeting at the Commercial Club with three new members added. It endorsed the Owen bill for a national health department, planned Christmas Seal sales, and discussed fundraising. Fire relief was organized with $313 sent to Kenneth Clark, St Paul. Scout groups formed four patrols as 50 plus boys joined. Local high school beat Willmar 17 to 8 and will tour Litchfield next. State Librarians met at Milwaukee with a strong program.

Michael Welch a former Willmar resident and railroad man died at his Minot North Dakota home on Wednesday morning October 12. The body was taken to St Ansgar Iowa for burial. He is survived by his wife Laura Frahm and a daughter Grace Welch.

Weekend sessions at the Swedish Mission church drew attendees from Minneapolis Buffalo and surrounding areas. Lutheran confirmation services at the Lutheran Free church filled the building with a large crowd and a foreign missions collection of about 90 dollars was taken.

Mrs L M Crosby hosts Silent Club at home Thursday. Miss Barbara Williams entertained the Hooligans Monday and Miss Hazel Lien entertained Monday for Miss Ella Tusey en route to Finley N D. Mr and Mrs Karenius Otoe will occupy the former Gilger residence on Park Assembly grounds. Martin Gundereon family of Norway Lake moved to Rhame N D to homestead. Miss Ida Boe hosted ten friends for a thimble bee with light refreshments. The Ladies society of the Swedish Lutheran church meets October 27 with refreshments by Mrs G Petersen and Mrs Swan Carlson. Mr and Mrs Russel Spicer departed for New York City and will visit Virginia and Washington DC before returning. Ernest Schulhof issued invitations for daughter Irma to marry Franz Joseph Krembs on October 22 at their West Litchfield Ave home. Lyder Berg and family moved to the old Larson farm in Baxter. Berg long in Willmar insurance. Mesdames A Pursley and Clifton A Peters left for Sparks Nevada to attend funeral of sister-in-law Mrs J E Peters then visit relatives in Sacramento, Cal., away a month or more.
