Pioneer Woman Mrs Otis Ferguson Dies in Genmessea Township

Mrs. Margaret Wheeler Ferguson, born in Ireland over eighty years ago, died Sunday October 13 at the family home in Genmessea township. She came to Minnesota in 1857 with her mother Mary Wheeler, later married Otis Ferguson in 1865, raised six children, aided fugitives during the 50 year Indian outbreak, and witnessed her husband’s fatal wagon accident in 1886. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St Patrick’s Church Kandiyohi with interment at Atwater.

Roosevelt shot by fanatical assailant in Milwaukee

Col Theodore Roosevelt ex president and Progressive candidate is shot in Milwaukee while leaving his hotel for the auditorium. The bullet wounds are minor. the manuscript in his pocket slowed the bullet. Roosevelt calmy addressed the crowd and continued to Chicago hospital where his condition is stable. The assailant John Schrank claimed a duty to kill him. Albert H. Martin and Captain Girard restrained him. Roosevelt’s courage and calm drew praise as he refused to react angrily. The incident temporarily halts campaign activity with support wavering among opponents.

Fruit car unloaded by Rev. O. H. Mynren at Willmar

Reverend O H Mynren unloaded a carload of California dried fruit in Willmar, about 700 sacks of 80 pounds each were moved. He has disposed of roughly 500 sacks and stored the remaining at Peterson's warehouse awaiting sale. The shipment's wholesale value exceeds $5,000.

Benefit Lecture At Bonde Hall For Anti-Tuberculosis Society

Mrs Florence Lee county nurse will speak at a benefit lecture tomorrow night at Bonde hall. Pleasing entertainment by the whole program is offered. Proceeds go to the treasury of the Anti-Tuberculosis society.

Dam Under Construction at Foot Lake Outlet

The dam at the Foot Lake outlet is under construction under Civil Engineer Rowat. It is estimated to raise the lake four to five inches above the current level, which will become permanent if inflow sustains the level.

Railroad Commission Denies Direct St. Cloud Line

Concert a Success by Willmar Glee Club at Svea Swedish Church

The Willmar Glee Club performed at the Swedish Lutheran church in Svea after a weather-delay. A large crowd filled the church while the U P Society served lunch. Door receipts totaled 40.30 with two thirds going to the Glee Club.
