Two Meetings Scheduled for Next Saturday

Journal notes two meetings to be held next Saturday. Rel Wing and partners plan sessions in Benville Wy with plans for fundraising, speeches, and a charity sale. Organizers promote social events, rides, and free transportation from the corner.

Obituary notices honor Eva Norman Ryden and Forsberg kin

Eva Norman Ryden passed away at her home on Sevomil Street in Willmar after several weeks illness at age TN. Funeral services will be held Sunday with Rev. Holmquist at the residence and Rev. Bergquist at Manvel Lutheran church. An obituary sketch will appear next week. The countys pioneer woman Mrs Anders Forsberg died at Isaac Nuril Strom residence aged 92. Funeral was held at Nordstrom residence with Rev. J Holmstad, interment Fairview. Pallbearers were six grandsons. Henry Stone of Atwater visited on Wednesday.

Pennock Young Man Enters Revival Work

David Swenson of Pennock, now a Moody Bible Institute student in Chicago, is named as a member of an open air evangelistic group sent out weekly by the Institute. The teams preach the gospel by message and song on busy street corners and in Chicago avenues, often drawing audiences in the hundreds. Before entering the institute he was an active figure in the Sunday School work of the Swedish Mission Church of Pennock.

Plans to Organize Independent Local Football Team

A group of gridiron stars and boosters in the city plans to form an independent football team. The squad would be eligible to play American Legion games and schedule matches. Many players are college and high school stars. a tentative roster is forming and practice scrimmage sessions are planned to locate and fit the men.

Mrs Peter O Hall Atwater death obituary notes

Mrs Peter O Hall dies at home in Atwater after long illness kidney and heart trouble. Born November 22 1840 in Ruby Parish Sweden, she emigrated aged 12. She moved with husband to Atwater Minnesota in 1870 and was a longtime member of the Swedish Lutheran church. Survived by husband two daughters and several relatives. Funeral held at Atwater Swedish Lutheran church conducted by Rev M Le Vantler.

Preus and Colling Miss Willmar Visit

The Willmar appearance by Preus and Colling was not held as scheduled. An earlier Tribune bulletin from Republican State Headquarters misstated plans and changed arrangements after they arrived Tuesday from Redwood Falls. They left for Sauk Centre with no day meeting in Willmar, while a separate report about an overheard incident at a Ladies Aid gathering drew attention in the Seventh Congressional District.

Salvation Army Drive Seeks $4100 Countywide Appeal

Former Colfax Resident Dies in Mississippi

Gustaf Nickelaus Highstrom, born in Sweden in 1826, died October 2 in Centerville, Mississippi at age 84. He lived in Colfax township for 34 years, served Kandiyohi County as surveyor and held local offices. Survived by wife Johannah Osberg, three sons William Theodore and Wmil, daughter Mrs. Constance Olson, stepchildren, eighteen grandchildren, and other relatives.

City Council to amend charter via district court appointment

The City Council passed a resolution last Monday asking the District Court to appoint members to the Charter Commission whose term has lapsed so amendments can be submitted to voters. Bethel Lutheran church added thirty-nine new members last Sunday, thirty-three of whom were communicants.

Legion Convention in Montevideo Sees District Formed

Two thousand members and friends of the American Legion met in Montevideo for the first Seventh Minnesota district convention. A district organization will carry out the Legion program with officers elected, plans for a permanent constitution, and a proposed district league for basketball. Willmar bid for the 1921 convention, Ortonville for 1922. Vernon urged support for veterans’ welfare and citizenship.

Auto Hits Buggy Near Mile Corner Injures Farmer

W S Hubartt a farmer two miles east of the city suffered several painful bruises to the head this Wednesday night about 9 30 when an auto driven by four Willmar youths collided with his buggy on the pavement at the mile crossing. Hubartt was hurled to the ground but escaped serious injuries. The buggy was wrecked while the car and occupants appeared uninjured.

Jenny Lind Centenary Observed At Carlson Hall

A centenary celebration for Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightingale, drew a crowd at Carlson Hall on Thursday evening. Mayor Lawson presided as readings, music, and Swedish and American tributes honored Lind, with choirs, solos, and a Swedish Mission speaker highlighting her life and humanity. St Paul Business Men to Visit Here Tuesday

More than a hundred St Paul wholesalers and manufacturers will visit this city Tuesday as part of a Trade Tour along the G N Line. They arrive at 5:00 p.m. on a special train and depart at 7:15 p.m. after meeting customers. the Minnesota State Band plays and souvenirs are given to children.
