Fort Ripley Man Returns From Sweden Trip

John Larson of Fort Ripley, a former Hime resident, traveled to Sweden for two weeks with relatives before returning on the Stockholm. He reported rising prices and shortages in Sweden, farmers prospering, and general war anxieties. Americans aboard faced English searches but received good meals and careful escort through minefields en route to Ireland.

LOBECKS DATES CAMPAIGN VISIT TO KANDIVEHI COUNTY

Senator E. E. Lobeck candidate for Congress tours Kandivehi county this week meeting voters. He speaks at Willmar Thursday 7 30 p m downtown street meeting and to the Farmers Club at Svea. Friday he speaks Kandiyohi at 11 a m and at Thorpe Dist 81 schoolhouse. Saturday at Atwater 3 p m and Harrison 8 p m. Meeker county tour October 16 21. Eastern Star members attend Litchfield school of instruction and return by evening train. Presbyterian church musical by Christian Endeavor gains over 18 dollars. Instruction in piano ukulele and Hawaiian steel guitar listed.

Nelson Bros Buy Willmar Steam Laundry Property

Nelson Bros proprietors of the Willmar Steam Laundry have purchased the building and lot from J. S. Robbins for 33000 and plan improvements including a new front next spring. The lot spans 25 feet wide across the block from Benson to Pacific avenue and renovations are underway as business grows.

Jurphy Carberry and Peter Murphy Wed at St Marys

Miss Mary Carberry became bride of Peter Joseph Murphy of Huron 8 D in a nine o clock ceremony at St Marys church conducted by Rev Father McDevitt. Attendants Miss Nellie McMonagle and Arthur Mullen. guests and a bountiful dinner followed at the Parish house. The couple plan to reside in Iroquois South Dakota after a wedding trip.

Shower Honors Mary Carberry Bride-to-Be in St Marys

The St Marys congregation hosted a silver shower for Miss Mary Carberry after noon last Saturday at Mrs J F Barretts Sixth Street home. Grace O’Neill led as bride and Louis Nichols as groom with a playful bridal party. gifts were presented as the wedding march played and a luncheon followed. Mary Carberry later wed Peter J Murphy of Huron SD at nine this morning. Mrs Samuel Nelson is convalescent after Bethesda hospital surgery, recovering well.

Methodist Episcopal Conference Ends With Few District Changes

The Northern Minnesota Methodist Episcopal annual conference closed in Wadena with Bishop Mitchell reading the coming year’s appointments. In the Litchfield District, Rev Barr and Rev Adams exchange pulpits. Geer moves to Princeton, Service to Little Falls, Watson to Ortonville, Haggana with Hart, Briggs to Clear Lake, Kishpaugh to Raymond, while others stay. Rev Rice is returned to Willmar for another year. A May District Conference will meet in Willmar with about forty pastors. The dedication of the new $500,000 Hennepin Avenue church in Minneapolis on the 22nd is highlighted.

Ford Service Station Changes Hands On Fourth Street

Garage formerly run by Esping and Holland is now owned by G A Stark Ed Peterson and Charles V Johnson and managed by Charles W Johnson.
