Local and area residents were seen on various trips and visits this week. Rev Q A Holzinger of Kerkhoven joined visitors Tuesday while E C Wellin left for Chicago for a business trip. Several others traveled to Minneapolis Chicago and Kandiyohi for studies jobs or family visits. A number of residents planned starts at Camp Nome and Willmar seminary with local families hosting guests and nurses preparing for new duties at Dr Davison hospital.

Injured Breckenridge Sixteen in Bridge Crew Accident
A sixteen year old, Breckenridge of Emmetaburg, employed on a Great Northern bridge crew west of the city, was seriously injured Saturday morning when a piece of timber from a bridge project struck him after a carload of bridge material shuddered. He was taken to Bethany Hospital where wounds were dressed by Dr. Frost and he is recovering.

Miss Huldd Anderson, daughter of August and Mrs Anderson, married Olie Nelson of Hastings at the Little Falls home of the bride. The ceremony at five o clock was by Hey Peterson of the Swedish Lutheran church with forty guests. The bridal party wore elegant gowns and bouquets. A three course dinner followed amid autumn decorations as guests from Minneapolis Valley City Hastings and Willmar shared in the ceremony and well wishes for the couple.

A Ford was stolen near Spicer Land Co. on Saturday at about nine p.m. It was found Sunday east of Kandiyohi, damaged after a high speed chase through a wire fence and into a rock. The thief was last seen driving away down the road. Events in the city include a Bethany YP gathering, First M E Ladies Aid luncheon, marriage licenses, Grove City address, a December sale, and local church events for October 17 and 19, 1917.

A meeting led by Judge T. O. Gill discussed a county hospital open to all with ample facilities as Army demands strain medical care. Campaign manager J. Landauer from Minnesota is engaged, with a committee including Gov. A. E. Rice aiming to secure $500 in guarantees toward a 50 bed hospital costing about $75,000. Over forty of the fifty guarantors had been secured at this writing.

Albert Erickson writes from camp about artillery training
In a 1917 letter from Watertown North Carolina Albert Erickson describes field artillery life. He notes sand soil and ongoing target practice with field pieces and pistols. He explains horses and teams used to move three inch guns and caissons, the crew of seven cannoneers, and the speed needed to fire. He mentions breezy cold fall weather, tents without stoves, and a note about farm loans from First National Bank in Wilmar Minnesota.

Townley to Speak at Willmar on Patriotic Non Partisan League Meeting
The National Farmers Non Partisan League plans a large meeting at Willmar Opera House next Tuesday afternoon October 16 with A C Townley head of the group and likely North Dakota state officials as speakers.
