The Atwater Republican Press reports strong confidence that a new north and south railroad will traverse Atwater, not Willmar or Litchfield, driven by expected local liberal bonuses. It would connect northern and southern borders, with stations planned at Lake Elizabeth and near Thorpe, boosting trade as Atwater mills expand storage and distribution facilities and local merchants anticipate growth without losing overall trade.
