Bethel Lutheran church hosts a district mission meeting next week with past pastors in attendance. Dr. Gustav A. Andreen of Augustana College delivers the principal address Thursday morning. Events begin Tuesday evening with evensong and readings, include choir performances, a Youth Society program, and a district treasury collection. Special music features the Wennerberg quartet and a solo by Rev. Pearson.

Woodmen initiate candidates along Milwaukee Road line
Last Thursday evening September 28 two auto loads of Woodmen traveled to Danube on the Milwaukee road to initiate a class of candidates. Olivia Renville and Sacred Heart sent delegations while State Deputy Sundeen praised Willmar Camp officers for aiding efforts in Granite Falls Spicer and Pennock. The first local camp social is set for October 11 with special features. Rev Rice attends Northern Minnesota Conference at Wadena and John Shields of Minneapolis is to speak October 8 at 7:20 PM.

Willmar Board Sets Education Taxes and Staffing
The Willmar Independent School District No. 47 board held its October meeting at the Bank of Willmar with all members present. They approved bills, adopted resolutions to levy 25,500 dollars for general school purposes and 1,000 dollars for a sinking fund, granted leaves and filled a vacancy, and planned space use at the Public Library basement to ease overcrowding, along with hiring an additional high school teacher.

Musical Friday Evening At First Presbyterian Church
On Friday evening the Christian Endeavor society at First Presbyterian will present a musical program at eight o clock followed by light refreshments. Admission is ten cents. The Republican State Committee opened its campaign at Sunburg in Kandiyohi county with U S Senator Knute Nelson delivering a keynote speech. A larger parade of politicians arrived by train and auto from nearby towns to attend, but local enthusiasm was tepid. October Term of District Court Progress Report
The October term of District Court at Kandiyohi County shows civil cases progressing with several dispositions. The State Bank of Morton v Frank B Adams and Maggie A Adams was continued to next term. Swan Nelson v County of Kandiyohi settled per stipulation. Ole Wold v E T Bergauist was dismissed after testimony. Axel Solberg won a $160 verdict against C A Berg. Carl Christensen v William Dowdell is on trial for tile work owed. The Ose Wantlandt v Roseville town board matter disposed similarly to prior road appeals. Wise and Morrow cases were discontinued for lack of evidence. Several cases involving the State of Minnesota against Gaasteriana and Sperry were continued. The Grand Jury returned four indictments before adjourning. Continued on page 3.
