Willmarchee Club to Stage Oct 11 Concert at Svea School

The Willmarchee Club plans a Friday evening performance at the Svea school house on October 11. Admission is 25 and 15 cents with a friendly invite to all. The program will be announced next week as the group seeks to deliver an enjoyable country visit. Little Helpers’ Society meets next Friday evening at the Swedish Baptist church basement with refreshments to be served.

Weekend events include a football opener at Willmar Park between Litchfield and Willmar and a Minnesota Synod assembly in Litchfield with multiple sermons and addresses from Presbyterian church leaders across the state.

Miss Barbara Williams left this morning for a week with relatives in the cities. Several local residents plan visits with kin, including Miss Hilma Elander from North Dakota, J J Elander’s niece and Miss Ethel Gavig, with others hosting or traveling to nearby towns. The town notes many small social moves, birthdays, and visits as residents plan temporary separations or moves.

County Valuation in Kandiyohi Raised Fifteen Percent

County Auditor Feig received notice from the Minnesota Tax Commission that Kandiyohi county’s total valuation has been increased by fifteen percent. The raise does not change local taxes as it applies uniformly, but it will boost state revenue by about one sixth or more of the total amount collected.

Two Willmar and Minneapolis Weddings Tie Communities

A wedding at the bride’s sister’s home in St Paul on September 18 unites Miss Olive Gilbertson and Mr. Christian Swenson with vows read by Rev. Morgan. A Willmar ceremony on September 25 joins Miss Thilda Berg and Mr. Lee Somerville as Rev. J. N. They will live in this county. Sheriff Bonde reports Harry Hatch struck Er ick Erickson with a fruit jar at Giorgison's dredge boat in Whitefield. Hatch pleaded guilty and was fined ten dollars plus costs.

Willmar Favored as New Factory Site Say Works Visitor

Minneapolis machinist Gilbert Amonsen visited Willmar today to scout a small factory location. He praised Willmar over Duluth for manufacturing, citing favorable freight links and competing with the Twin Cities. The community backed Gordon and Dowling, both defeated. now they plan to support Eberhart Morris per Tribune reports.

City to build sidewalk on Minnesota Ave between First and Jessie

Work crews began grading and laying a sidewalk on the new street between First and Jessie on Minnesota Ave. The right of way was bought last summer from Mrs. P. E. Carson, with costs shared by the city and public funds. The city agreed to fund the walks. Also notes: Mission church youths attended the Willmar district convention at Murdock, with Willmar delegates listed and hosted at local homes.
