County Societies Meet Next Saturday in County

The Kanitisuhi ont Pair Association holds its annual meeting Saturday at the Court House with a business session starting in the morning. Reports will be heard as officers and members conduct elections and plan future improvements. delegates will be chosen to attend the Minnesota Agricultural Society meeting and state events. Lunch follows with a joint gathering of county horticultural society members and fair officials.

Night school opens to teach citizenship and English

U S naturalization examiner Kasper and Prof Foster plan a free evening class at the High School starting Monday December 11 to help immigrants learn writing reading and American government. About twenty men in St Paul pledged to attend with potential for many more. The note also reports a kitchen fire at Harry Hosland’s Third Street home and recent skating excitement at Foot Lake with added lighting near the plaza.

Viker Young People Sell Goods and Host Concert

At the John Syvertson home in Dovre the Viker Young People’s Society will sell fancy articles Friday evening. An A and Gevend Concert at Bien lunch will be served for 15 cents. The Zion church in Irving hosts sacred music Saturday with North Star Orchestra. An oyster supper follows the concert in the church basement. Miss Lulu Pendrey of Grand Forks visited in Irving and plans to spend winter in Long Beach, California.

Willmar Commercial Club Opens Season With Plans

The Willmar Commercial Club held its first social and business meeting at the Masonic building with a New England boiled dinner. Judge Gilbert led a discussion on next summer’s six day chautauqua featuring eleven soloists from the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and other top talents. New members were elected and road improvement plans discussed plus a proposed home coming festival and a civic celebration for next year.

Poultry Show Plans Under Way for 1917 Popular Demonstration

Arrangements for the annual poultry show at Will are advancing with plans for a large exhibit. A premium list is ready for printing and the event aims to educate farmers on breeding, size, and color. The show will be free to all and funded by business subscriptions and state appropriations. Separately, Miss Hattie Swenson and Herman Marlow were married at the Swedish Lutheran parsonage and will reside in this city.

Extra Freight Hits Auto Near Pennock Injures Four

An accident near Pennock involving a Ford touring car carrying Mr and Mrs L F Meyers and two children from Rosholt left all four with injuries mild to moderate. Extra 348 freight train at about 30 mph struck the auto traveling 15 mph as gale winds hid the crossing. The car was carried about 100 feet, all passengers treated at Bethesda hospital Kerkhoven before return home.

Mackemith Shop at C A Mackland Home Destroyed by Fire

Fire destroyed the blacksmith shop at the C A Backlund home in Eagle Lake yesterday afternoon. Sparks ignited the roof. despite efforts the shop was a total loss, with eight cords of wood and about $100 in tools ruined. Nearby structures suffered minor damage and the wind direction might have endangered the house and barn.

Grand Opera Singers Set for Tuesday Concert at Willmar

Mite Louise Barnelt and Jan Hal Griffee, noted soloists, appear at the Willmar Opera House Tuesday evening December fifth. The program opens at 8 15 with no seating during a number. Barnelt in costume for her numbers and Leo Murphy of Minnesota will accompany. Both will perform grand opera numbers from Carmen. Tickets cost twenty five thirty five and fifty cents.
