Drowning tragedy at Stauffer Lake near Colfax
Archie Amy 16 year old adopted son of C S Geer of Colfax was drowned on a hunting trip last Wednesday at Stauffer's lake. An overturned boat and a cap found later indicate a water death. The body had not yet been recovered by Tuesday evening. He was last seen firing on the lake at about 4:30 p m and left home two o'clock that afternoon. A large search party, grappling hooks, and explosives were used as the lake's depth reaches about twelve feet. The rumors say the cause remains a mystery. Archie Amy was the son of Simon A Amy, adopted after his mother's death. Relatives from Willmar and Litchfield were notified and headed to Colfax. The story includes local church notices and community events.

Revival Trains Collided Near Stiles station in City Line
A head end collision last Friday east of Stiles station on the Tintah Evansville line involved an extra freight and the Aberdeen passenger. Engineer Mike Darmody suffered a broken leg and severe injuries. others were slightly hurt. Freight engineer Fred Van Houten escaped injury. Both engines were smashed.
