Kandiyohi Red Cross reports strong year and growth
Kandiyohi County Chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual meeting at the Masonic Building with Mrs. Russell Spicer reporting a busy year. The chapter lists 14 branches and auxiliaries, a balanced financial report, and ambitious production figures for surgical dressings and supplies. The board re elected most officers, added Mrs J Albert Peterson, and heard musical numbers and a brief address by Rev Leonard of Minneapolis.

Annual Fair Meeting Seeks Board and Officers Election
The Kandi Yohi County Fair Association will hold its annual meeting at the Masonic building next Tuesday afternoon. Three Board of Managers will be elected for three years and annual officers chosen. Secretary Wim O Johnson has mailed notices to 150 stockholders urging turnout. The notice appeals to progressive farmers and business leaders to support the institution. Soldier Returns Home From Texas Camp Mcarthur Pvt Edward Johnson son of Mr and Mrs John H Johnson was discharged last week at Camp Mcarthur Waco Texas and arrived home yesterday with his uncle Peter Sherman who has been visiting Texas for a month. Johnson has recovered from influenza and pneumonia at the base hospital and Sherman notes Texas climate varies greatly in temperature.

Special Patriotic Service at Swedish Baptist Church
Last Sunday evening a patriotic service was held at the Swedish Baptist church with Allied Flags on display and special music. The meeting opened with America sung and featured a sermon on Conditions in France and the work of United War Workers for service members. A large crowd attended. two soldiers, Walter Larson and Irving Peterson, returned from Fortress Monroe after discharge and reported enjoying life in the service. They had joined the S A C T at the State University and were sent to Fortress Monroe for training.

Kandiyohi County Farm Bureau directors met at the Court House last Tuesday. An annual meeting is set for December 2 at 2 p m with reports on committee work, a new program, officer elections and an outside speaker. Membership drive runs December 2 through 7. all county residents are eligible to join. The bureau reports seed testing, farm labor placement, drainage planning aiding 1200 acres, and veterinary services for livestock. Office activity includes 456 calls in seven months and free advisory services to farmers and government requests.

Kandiyohi Farm Sells For 175 Per Acre
Elmer F Gustafson of Altona Illinois bought eighty acres known as the Redy place near Kandiyohi station from C P Lundgren for 175 dollars per acre. John A Johnson negotiated the deal and Gustafson will take possession March 1. Local board orders seal of registrant records once classification work is finished. records are public but sealed except by order of the governor or Provost Marshal General.

William F Coolen Dies in France Hospital
Another Kandiyah County boy has made the supreme sacrifice for his country. William Frank Coolen, who left Willmar with the contingent of recruits July 26, has passed away in a hospital in France from pneumonia. His aunt, Mrs. William McKinzle, received a message to this effect Tuesday. More details expected in later issue.

Willmar Boy Harold Styles Returns From France
Harold Styles son of Mrs J H Styles of Willmar is back after less than two years abroad. He served with the 129th Infantry reg and the 35th Division, marched through France, endured gas exposure and hospital care in Bussang Sevigny and Brest, then sailed on the Henderson to New York. He will join Des Moines Electric Co with his wife and their five month old daughter, planning to settle in Des Moines.
