Social Roundup of Thanksgiving Travel and Visits

J 8 Lee traveled to Belgrade on a business trip last week. Numerous locals including Miss Cora Smith, Miss Norma Ruoff, Miss Emma Johnson, Miss Gertrude Sandberg, Mrs. August Holmberg, Miss Birdie Ramselt, and many others planned Thanksgiving stays or visits across cities like Minneapolis Atwater New London Willmar and Bellingham. Prof N B Swalia played music at a Brooten wedding. Maurice Borstein of New York arrived to promote the New York Department Store. Several families prepared for holiday gatherings with relatives in Sisseton Tyler Wahpeton and Benson while others planned dinners in Willmar and Minneapolis.

Willmar to Host Development Rally December 13 14

Willmar will host a large booster meeting of the Western Minnesota Development Association on December 13 and 14. Sessions will be held at the courthouse with speakers including Dean Woods, Prof. Holden, Prof. Higbee, and Hon. F W Murphy. President Vincent and James J. Hill may address attendees. Delegates from farms and cities are urged to attend as part of a major regional development effort.

Marriages and notices at Lutheran parsonages in town

Last Wednesday evening two weddings took place at Lutheran parsonages. Olga Quam and L E Gooch wed with Rev Michaelson presiding. dinner followed and the couple visited Minneapolis. A Swedish Lutheran ceremony united Miss Nannie A Johnson and Edward Peterson. Rev Gustaf Peterson officiated. Bertha Benson and P R Stromberg married with witnesses from Svea. A district school concert is planned for November 28 with North Star Orchestra and various solos and ensembles. Kandiyohi Poultry Meet to be Held at Willmar Club

Kandiyohi County Poultry Association will meet at the Willmar Commercial Club rooms Friday evening December 6 at seven o'clock. A recent deed dated November 20 transferred ownership of the Willmar Steam Laundry to E. J. Boomer who plans improvements and new machinery, renaming the business the American Steam Laundry.

Minnesota Central Telephone Co Sold Under Hammer

The Minnesota Central Telephone Company assets were sold at Kandiyohi county courthouse to satisfy a trust deed for about $172,000. Northwestern Telephone Exchange Company bid $600,000, with $400,000 in notes from Minnesota Central used to cover the difference. The sale ends the Willmar-based line system once tied to Northwestern Bell, with office moves and a five year hospital banquet noted.
