Willmar Municipal Band Concert Set At Dreamland

The Willmar Municipal Band begins its season with a Sunday matinee at 3 PM in the Dreamland Theatre. Conductor Clarence G Granoski rehearsed the group for weeks, featuring Miss Penrose of Willmar High School, three vocal solos, and a program including El Capitan Sousa Light Cavalry and Atlantis Suite. Tickets 25 cents. reserve at Hallin's Drug Store after 9 AM Saturday.

Athletic Conference Meeting In Cokato For District Eight

An athletic meeting for all high school superintendents and coaches in district eight will be held in Cokato on Saturday. The district now includes 17 schools. Dinner by the Cokato Domestic Science class at 1 pm precedes the business session to plan the basketball season with Geo O Beohaugh chairing and Supts Selke and Goff on the committee. Supper and Sale at Pennock Mamreland church Friday evening offers a menu of turkey, chicken, meat balls, mashed potatoes, corn, fruit salad, cranberries, pickles, pie and coffee. tickets 25 and 15 cents. Sale of fancy articles at Masonic Temple by Fidelis

The Fidelis of Bethel Lutheran Church plans a sale of fancy articles at the Masonic Temple on Wednesday evening December 6. Cars Collide Near Kandiyohi In Weekend Crash

An east pavement collision near Kandiyohi involved a Chandler driven by a Willmar man and a Maxwell owned by a Grove City party. The Chandler suffered no visible damage, while the Maxwell lost a front wheel, sustained severe damage, and a bent fender. Twenty-four hours earlier, Misses Botnen Gynild Backlund and Bredeson and Messrs Arneson Albin and Martin Hawkinson were hosted at the Edgren home in Oak Park.

Red Cross Social and High School Basketball Schedule

A Red Cross social candy box event is planned for Saturday evening November 25 at Dist 83 Lake Lillian to aid the Red Cross. Ladies should bring candy boxes and lunch will be provided by district women. The first high school basketball game is set for December 16 against Minneola with other games arranged against Kerkhoven and Litchfield. athletic manager Mr. Harry Wahlstrand leads the schedule efforts.

Wrestling Match Tomorrow Evening in Majestic Theatre

Anton Foss of Fargo meets Melvin Samuelson in a mid dleweight bout at the Majestic Theatre tomorrow night. Foss has recent win over Fritz Nelson and is billed as West’s top middleweight, Samuelson says he’s in strong form since Labor Day. Foss must throw Samuelson twice in forty minutes or forfeit $100. Also notes on local Thanksgiving program and Ladies Aid sale at nearby districts with serving lunch.

Messiah Concert Set For Dec 19 In Willmar

The Messiah returns to Willmar as a public Christmas observance on Tuesday December 19 at an uncertain venue likely the Junior High School Auditorium. Soloists include George Krieger of Minneapolis with Prof Malmstrom conducting and two new choruses to be added Worthy is the Lamb and All we Like Sheep Have Gone Astray.

Teachers Meeting Delights with Music at PTA Session

The regular PTA meeting at the high school drew a large turnout. A fine program featured musical numbers directed by Miss Penrose, including selections by the boys quartet and girls glee club, a piano duet by Nora Swenson and Eleanor Ostlund, plus talks by Miss Ingarmsdahl, Dr. Frost, and Mr. Brohaugh. IN PARIS Col Rice Takes Role of Globe Trotter

Col Cushman Rice, once of Willmar, is reported to be touring Europe and parts of Africa. He visited Spain with military expeditions to Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Norway, and England, paused in Paris, and may return soon. The High School gym hosts the play The Little Preacher on December 15 by the Normal Training Department.

Party Returns With Big Game

A party of five led by Peter Pearson Carl Freeberg William Conway and Jalmar Pearson of Willmar and Albin Nelson of Litchfield hunted big game at Skybo north of Duluth from Nov 7 to Nov 18. They returned with one moose two deer and 24 partridges the moose weighing about 800 pounds. Deer hunting was below normal due to no snow and warm weather.

Broke Leg Incident Injures Sophie Hames at Home

Miss Sophie Hames tripped at home on Monday and fractured a leg near the knee. She was taken to Willmar Clinic for X rays, cast applied, and she returned home in good spirits and improving.
