Red Cross sewers urged to aid refugee garments
The Red Cross seeks volunteers to sew refugee garments at the Masonic building, with ongoing sessions all day and evening on Wednesdays and Friday afternoons. Previous helpers and new volunteers are urged to attend, especially Wednesday evening for daytime helpers with other duties. The public library reopened today and asks patrons to return overdue books without fines if late, while Rev. Kandiyohi Red Cross To Elect Officers Tuesday Evening
Kandiyohi County Chapter of the American Red Cross meets at the Masonic Temple on Tuesday at 7 30 for its annual business meeting and board election followed by a musical program. Local performers include Miss Osmundson Carlson Mrs Walter Hackett and Miss Greenfield with a Minneapolis Red Cross speaker who worked in France. All county Red Cross members vote and are welcome to attend.

Ban on public meetings lifted this week
The ban on public meetings has been lifted and churches announce services for next Sunday. The theatres open Friday. Willmar Public Schools opened today with good attendance, all teachers present except Miss Anderberg whose father is ill. She expects to be on duty next week. The influenza epidemic seems to have run its course as no new cases are reported. The past five weeks have been dark, but brighter days are coming. Cloudy weather adds to gloom. the sun will be welcome. Notice to registrants, those called for physical exams need not appear as an order from the Secretary of War stops examinations. Pioneer Willmar editor passes away in Minneapolis
Alton Crosby pioneer resident and Willmar newspaper editor and postmaster died of heart failure after an operation at St Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis. Born October 26 1858 in Centerville Mass he came West at 18 and built a long career with the Republican Gazette and Willmar Opera House. He served as Willmar postmaster from 1907 to 1915 and is survived by his wife Gertrude and two children. Funeral held November 18 with services at St Luke’s church and burial at Fairview.

Colfax Soldier Lewis Larson Dies in France
Pvt. Lewis Larson of Colfax died at Rest Camp Hospital in France from pneumonia after serving in Co. E. $11 Am. Train. Born Sept. 25 1886 in Lake Andrew, he moved with his family to Colfax, joined Lutheran church, and is mourned by parents Christian and unnamed mother, siblings Oliver and Melvin, and five sisters. Funeral honors granted by Lieut. Bruce C. Chapman.
