Chance for Big Federal Road

President Tallman of the Highway Association reports strong odds that the East and West Highway from the Twin Cities to Browne Valley will be designated a national highway built by the Federal Government. If approved, construction would be federally funded with refunds to counties, and $27 000 in county and state backing is planned for surveying and improvement this winter. Local counties already spent substantial sums and expect higher outlays next year as officials push for rapid action.

Local Big Game Set At The Ball Park Next Week

A big football match between the high school and alumni is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, November 27, at the local ball park. Admission is 25 cents, with proceeds aiding the high school athletic association. The game is a yearly fun event, not a city championship, and players may need to maintain passing grades to participate.

Mrs Frank H Knox dies in California gas blast

Elizabeth Knox wife of Frank H Knox died after a gas stove explosion at the Knox home in Huntington Park California on November 11. She was 80 and died at 2 30 pm. The Willmar area previously known as home, with earlier farm life in Edwards Township. Funeral held Thursday with few details available.

Lovander Berg Wedding At Dovre Township

Last Wednesday at the H J Bers home in Dovre township, Miss Martha Lovander married William N Lovander of Minneapolis. Rev LA Johanson of the Hauge Synod church officiated at 10 30 p m. A reception for about 160 guests followed with autumn color decor. The bride wore white crepe de chine with veil and roses, attended by Misses Manda Olson and Martha Bakken in cream crepe de chine. Groom's attendants were Henry Berg and Carl Lovander of Minneapolis. bridesmaid was Mrs G E Qvale of Willmar. The couple left for Minneapolis to reside. the groom is a motorman for Twin City Rapid Transit Co. Guests included Joseph Berg of St Paul and Carl Lovander of Minneapolis. Bethany Church Chorus Formed at Willmar Seminary

About forty students organized as a chorus at Bethany church and Willmar Seminary with Erick Glad as president Edith Eatrem secretary and Norman Tallakson treasurer Miss Evalyne Grindeland music teacher leads rehearsals and plans to present the cantata Bethany soon. two practice sessions held and more details to follow.

Appleton Girls Defeated By Visiting Team 21 to 10

In Appleton last Friday, the local high school girls lost 21 to 10 to the Appleton team. Marion Gray led the visitors with seven field baskets. Mildred Smith and Ruth Beck scored for the locals. After the game, Appleton was hosted at a high school reception. A basket social will be held in Dist No 10 near the Colfax Burbank line Saturday night November 22 with Esther F Hedeen as teacher and a pupils program.

Atwater citizen Henry Feig suffers serious collapse

The prominent Atwater figure Henry Feig, long known in western Minnesota, suffered a serious collapse while at the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce. He was carried from the chamber to await family and physician decisions on his condition. county officials and friends express hope for recovery.

Florence Henderson spent a few days in the cities. The Y P S of the Synod church held a benefit for the Seminary Improvement Fund last Monday with a large crowd. New Canes Reported Update on School Closures

A joint meeting of the Board of Health Board of Education and city physicians discussed closing schools due to contagious disease. High School Adds One More Scout to Wins

The local high school football team defeated Morris Aggie 32 to 20 on a muddy field after rain and sleet. The visitors used a crisscross play in the first half but could not sustain it, while Rock Atar replaced the injured Walter Erickson and excelled in forward passes. Team Hit By Train Near Willmar Kills Horses and Wrecks Buggy

Andrew Stene, a young farmer northwest of Willmar, was crossing a track on 10th street when a westbound Sioux City passenger train struck his newly bought team and buggy. The wagon escaped the track, but the two horses and buggy were destroyed. horses died instantly. A G N claim agent inspected the scene. the railway company is expected to cover most losses.
