Freicht Trains Wrecked In Twin Incidents

Two railroad wrecks disrupted Great Northern traffic. A broken wheel flange caused a yard wreck at Han sock and Stock, delaying a 1:30 pm passenger to after six. Eight freight cars loaded with chest derailed, five destroyed. A second wreck near Elk River involved a cattle train on a defective switch at forty mph. about fifty cattle killed or escaped, several workers narrowly escaped being trampled, track cleared by day’s end. Damages likely in the thousands.

Chicago Bans Toy Guns With Heavy Penalty

The Chicago city council passed an ordinance forbidding sale lending or furnishing toy firearms including pistols and fowling pieces with a $100 penalty. The measure aims to curb youth handling of explosives and firearms amid frequent accidents and parental concern for children's safety.

Obituary for Mrs Christine Peterson Passes Away

Mrs Christine Peterson died at nine o clock yesterday morning at her son P L Peterson's home after pneumonia and subsequent weakness. Born in Vik Heleing land Sweden on November 24 1823 she married Lars Peterson in 1848 and emigrated to America in 1866 settling near Grass Lake Willmar. She leaves two sons and two daughters including P L Peterson and Mrs Norberg. Remains to be moved to Anoka and funeral planned there tomorrow.

Annie Larnon Dies at 64 in Fourth Ward Home

Annie Larnon, long an invalid cared for as a city dependent on Jessie street, died early Wednesday at 64. Dropsy caused death after weeks confined to her home. She had no known relatives locally. Funeral held yesterday at the Lutheran Free church with Rev. E. E. Gynild officiating. interment in Lutheran Free cemetery nearby.

Winblad Sells Out to Leite in New London

Henry Winblad sold his barber shop in New London to Chas Leite of Willmar, a surprise to friends who hope he remains in the city. Leite, a well regarded county resident, previously worked at Peter Rasmussen’s on Pacific Avenue and plans to open his own shop with public support and best wishes.

Old Society Banquet Announces Dec 18 Program

The Old Society plans a Dec 18 banquet with Mrs Calros singing a solo and Miss Emme Dalheim on piano. Dr J B Hingsley of Minneapolis will preach and lead the first quarterly Conference on Nov 18. Also notes a birth for Mr and Mrs William Nelson of 690 Third Avenue last Thursday.

The Regedal Brothers plan to vacate their two year farm on the Rice & Jorgenson property. The Klidl Slag Brothers will rent it for the coming season. Berg, the current owner, plans a new dwelling nearby next spring for his family, with the old house for tenants. The Regedals are relocating to Cottonwood to rent a farm there.

Robbers Brutal Hold-up On Great Northern Train Near Maple Plain

Frank Eller from Philadelphia recounts a brutal hold-up on a Great Northern freight near Maple Plain last Tuesday. Fate Follows Oscar Young With Fourth Attack

Oscar Young, a locally known man, survived a brutal assault on the road between Breckenridge and Wahpeton after being slugged and robbed of about 365. He was left unconscious off a riverbank, later revived at St. Francis hospital, and is now able to speak as recovery begins.
