Sheriff Captures Sneak Thief in Local Case

Floyd Kaufman pleaded guilty in Municipal court to petit larceny after a pattern of small thefts across the Handy farm area. He chose 35 days in jail over a $25 fine. Police tracked him as he gathered stolen goods including tools, a table, two chairs, groceries, and merchandise. One bicycle valued at $35 remains missing.

Willmar Commercial club hosts Friday publicity rally

The publicity rally under the Willmar Commercial club will be at Carlson hall next Friday at 7 30 p m Invitations go to Commercial clubs business men nearby villages and county farmers George Welch state immigration commissioner and D M Neill federation president will speak followed by social time and refreshments All club members are urged to attend to aid the event's success.

More Fish Fry For Eagle Lake

Twenty cans of Crappies and Bass fry were unloaded here last Friday from a car sent by the Minnesota State Fish commission. Half to Green Lake, half to Eagle Lake by Syvett Osmundson and Deputy Game Warden J. B. Boyd. Each can held about 100 fry, totaling 2000 for shipment. Swedish Baptist gathering to dedicate new Willmar church

Swedish Baptist church at Willmar hosts a multi day union session with Rev A Lysell opening, Bible knowledge talks, pastoral discussions on finances and evangelism, and culminates next Sunday in the dedication of the new church building led by Rev O Bodien and with English language addresses by Rev Frank Peterson and Rev Swaney Nelson followed by an evangelical invitation.

Obituary of Mrs Mattie Burch at Burbank and local items

A pall hangs over Burbank as Mrs. Mattie Burch dies in Sisseton after a three day illness. Funeral and interment occur in Burbank with family left in grief. Born Aug 5 1876, she taught in the area and married Claude C. Burch in 1900. Survived by husband, two children Jessie and Frank, her parents, siblings, and many relatives. Prairie Fire Destroys Hay Near Priam and Whitefield

A severe prairie blaze swept across sections near Priam and Whitefield last Wednesday, burning 2000 to 2500 tons of hay and destroying a shed and barn. The Johnson farm fire spread southeast under strong winds, with losses estimated around $15,000. Local farmers aided by neighbors halted the fire at the hay lands end in Whitefield. Mrs. Johnson suffered a serious illness from shock. Subscriptions paid include E. F. Stuhr, Wm. Lundquist, and many others across the community.

Forfeits Game To Benson Eleven

Benson was awarded the game played with Willmar last Saturday at Benson by 1 to 0. The Willmar squad quit in the middle of the second half after a dispute over Young's ball handling. The Willmar coach Udell was ejected amid crowd accusations of coaching. The write up blames the crowd and calls for fair officials and better selection based on experience.
