Willmar Opens Agricultural Course For Farm Youths

Willmar Associated Schools launch an agricultural course for farm boys and girls and town youth under the Putnam Act. The program aims to teach plant and animal production, home building, and industrial skills to broaden citizenship. Rural meetings led by Supt. Foster promote the course and outline a Kandiyohi County plan with dates for district gatherings through November.

Willmar High School Program Highlights 1911

Mrs Cramer and Miss Gittins visited school Friday afternoon. The Freshmen Friday morn presented acts including Owl Critic Roy Carlson Barbara at the Window and Apple Pie and Cheese. The W F S football team faces Granite Falls at Willmar Athletic Park next Saturday. The 1911 Nov 10 literary program includes essays on The Great Game and A Fish Story, orations on Growth of Socialism in America and Municipal Improvement, a piano duet, and vocal and instrumental numbers led by Gerta Rasmusson Florence Magnuson and others.

Swedish Mission Social Tonight at Swedish Mission Church

The Swedish Mission church Y P S will hold a monthly social Thursday evening Nov 9 with a program including songs devotional exercises vocal duets by Fern and Florence Magnuson recitations Hildar Hoglund choir reading Esther Nicholson vocal solo Rev Ostling reading Esther Anderson and a closing song Refreshments will be served by Jennie Moberg and Ruth Hanson in the church parlors A large crowd enjoyed a musical concert by the church choir at the Baptist church south of Svea last Wednesday evening with exquisite refreshments and a pleasant return to Willmar.

Death and typhoid tragedy in Kandiyohi family

After a long illness John Paulson and Mary Paulson lose wife and mother Mary to a complication of pneumonia and erysipelas. Daughter Myrtle Beatrice dies fifteen hours later, while sons Arthur and Reuben remain ill. Typhoid traced to a well. Mary Akeson, born in Sweden, came to Kandiyohi in 1867, married John Paulson in 1890, with five children. Funeral held at John Nelson's residence with Rev. G Peterson officiating. Community offers sympathy.

Eleanora Olson Concert Delights Bynod Church Audience

The Eleanora Olson Concert Trio performed at Bynod church last Friday evening and was a decided success. Eleanora Olson, the mezzo soprano, impressed with a deep powerful voice and charming presence. Ethel Olson, the impersonator, entertained with humor and skill, while Alice R. Walden on piano demonstrated high artistry and refined taste. The Conover piano belonged to the Nelson Music Company.

A Bow social is set for Saturday November 11 at 8 o'clock p m in District fifty Ave Svea. A short program will be followed by lunch for all. Indies are urged to bring bows. Everyone is welcome.

Two Months Completed In Red Cross Fund Drive

The Red Cross campaign reports two months completed with Mrs. C. B. Carlson and Mrs. T. J. Larson each turning in fifty cents per month per week per day per hour. Carlson’s four weeks total five dollars and sixteen cents per week, twenty-one dollars ten cents per month. Larson’s same monthly total of twenty-one dollars ten cents. Combined on hand from the two months stands forty-two dollars and forty cents. Names of all days and hours are requested but not listed due to length.

Willmar Park Assembly Hears Park and Fair Grounds Plans

At an adjourned stockholders meeting a committee led by W F Gratz G W Tyler and E C Wellin was appointed to study creating an athletic park and race track on land adjoining Willmar Assembly Park. They discussed financing through expanded public use revenue, possibly leasing grounds for events, and merging with the Street Fair. A 30 day option remains, with a November 20 meeting to review committee findings and proposed changes to the articles of incorporation.

Free Lutheran Y. P. 8 Program and Events

The Free Lutheran Y P 8 holds a meeting on Friday November 10 with piano and vocal solos by E H Olson C A Jacobson and Myrtle Miller and a Christian Endeavor Musical.
