Road Improvement Plan For Willmar Area Proceeds

A public meeting at the Commercial Club discussed road repairs for Svea road and approaches to Willmar. The plan calls for wheel scrapers, gravel, proper grading, and a targeted $5000 fundraising effort with early pledges already totaling over $3000. Community leaders including S E Stansberry, R J Haley, and D N Tallman urged broad support to speed fall work and spring finishing touches.

Litchfield and Willmar Meet in Opening Gridiron Clash

The football game today at Athletic Park pits Litchfield against Willmar High School at 2:30 PM. A large Litchfield delegation and strong home support are expected as both teams seek early season triumph in the first big contest. The local lineup features Kautson, Gilbertson, Martin, Fridlund, Rigg, Adams, Princell, Carlaon, Lindner, Lien, MacDonald among others.

Master Mechanic Geo A Bruce promoted to Eastern division

Geo A Bruce, former master mechanic of the Breckenridge division, has been promoted to Master Mechanic of the Eastern division of the Great Northern. His headquarters will be in St Paul, overseeing all work east of Grand Forks. He has taken residence in St Paul and starts in the new role early next week. Willmar friends hail the promotion as well deserved.

Dog Kills a Timber Wolf Near Robbins Pasture

On a forenoon drive near Robbins pasture northeast of town, J P Madison and C K Robinson watched Madison’s pack of greyhounds pursue a timber wolf. The leading hound tackled the wolf by the hind legs, flipped it, then pinned it by the throat until the pack arrived and finished the capture. A local stage return is noted with actor Walker Whiteside set to appear at the opera house in The Red Cockades. Chas Nixon of Winona oversees a cooking exhibit at Obsberg Selvig Co. A Majestic display offered Bree coffee and biscuits to patrons, drawing praise.

Loved One Laid at Rest in Small-Town Service

A large gathering paid last respects to May Rosetta Nores at her Eleventh Street home and graveside. Pallbearers included Maurice Lester Porter and Maxfield Walter Crosby. flower bearers were Allene Sherwood and others. Rev. Buell led the service at home and at Fallsview Cemetery with a solo by Florence R. Porter. May the bereaved find comfort in the belief that she rests awaiting a bright resurrection morn.

The Columbian Lyceum Bureau offered attractions for the Citizens' Lecture Bureau and Herbert Leon Cope, Humorist, delivered a lively program. The audience laughed loudly and was occasionally moved to tears by poignant passages as Cope kept them entertained throughout.

Kandlyohl county residents expect to move soon to Pacific coast towns. L L Baklund and family of Green Lake plan auction of their farm on the 17th then depart for Valley, Washington. Baklund farm sold to Albert Thompson of Pipestone. Ed Johnson of Glenwood Spring Water Co visits his old home and hints at business closures. Lengthy Kandiyohi case over new district 104

The case of Syvert Relgatad versus Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners occupied the district court with Judge Qvale presiding. The matter was submitted to the court and a ten day briefing window was set for both sides. The dispute concerns forming a new school district No 104 from parts of districts No 19, 30, 31 and 25 with witnesses, stipulations, and ongoing litigation spanning several years.

Archander to Speak at Lutheran Free Church Sunday

Minneapolis jurist John W. Archander will preach at the Lutheran Free church Sunday morning at 10 30 in Norwegian and at 7 30 in English. His evening text is Jeremiah chapter 8 verse 20, about harvest past and summer ended. He will also preach at Eagle Lake church Sunday afternoon.
