Home Destroyed by Fire Near Thorpe

Yesterday morning about 10 o'clock the Andy Bomsta residence two miles northeast of Thorpe was totally destroyed by fire. The blaze started from a defective chimney and the 18 by 24 foot house was ruined while Bomsta was away on the road to Atwater. Some insurance existed but was limited. The family is staying with Homes Anderson's until a new house can be erected.

Gustafsons Celebrate Twenty Fifth Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Gustafson of Kandlyami were honored with a silver wedding anniversary surprise hosted by friends last Monday evening. Sixty five guests attended with gifts of silver from guests and children. Rev G Tegnell spoke, and an appetizing lunch followed. All seven children attended. George Odell returned Monday from Wayzata.

Left hand mangled in electric wringer accident

Mrs. I. T. Cramer suffered a severe hand injury yesterday morning when her left fingers were caught in an electric wringer during washing. Dr. Frost attended and she was taken to Rest Hospital for treatment.

Prominent People Leave for South

A large party from Kandiyohi County heads south to Los Indios Texas near the Rio Grande. Led by Mr. and Mrs. Burns Mr. Harris Franzen Johnson and Thompson they sell farms and plan Gulf country homes. The group includes several pioneer settlers and friends wish them success in the new venture.

Armistice Day Closing Request Issued by Willmar

Out of respect to World War Veterans a local notice requests that businesses close on Tuesday November 1 at 11 o clock in the afternoon and citizens decorate and display the National flag as part of Armistice Day observance. The notice is dated Willmar November 5.

Kandiyohi County Campaign for Roosevelt Memorial Fund

O Gilbert appeals Kandiyohi County residents to contribute to the Roosevelt Memorial Fund. The State Committee expects about $1000 from the county and authorizes forwarding received gifts. contributions urged by November 8, 1919. Gilbert notes Roosevelt as an inspiration and asks for prompt support from Willmar residents.

American Legion program to be held November 12 at Odd Fellows hall

The Austin American Legion Post will serve refreshments from 3 to 7 PM at the Odd Fellows hall on November 12. An evening program features Elva Traphagen Ida Carlson Marie Hilstad and vocalists Walter Erickson Sophus Larson and Jude T C Gilbert. Membership nears 250 with charter status for those joining by November 11. Legion buttons are 26 cents. A business session precedes the program followed by a social hour.

Local Industry Buys 16 Lots For Expansion In Willmar

Minnesota Implement Company closed a deal purchasing 16 lots on Benson avenue East in Willmar Kandiyohi County from S S Glarum. The land extends the factory area with 6 west of and 11 east of the present site, enabling side tracks and storage for future growth. The move signals plant expansion and confidence in economical distribution. Local civic notes include a Tabernacle Chorus rehearsal at Swedish Mission church and social events at 620 Second Street East. Visitors from North and South Dakota and attendance at the League of Women Voters convention are mentioned along with a stereoscopic lecture on France at the Court House Friday night.

Ducks fined and guns confiscated at Nest Lake pass

Minneapolis men Harvey Leroy and Emil Borgeson pleaded guilty in Municipal Court after being arrested by Federal Game Warden Ern est Olson and Deputy State Warden Sam Warner for hunting after sunset. Each fined 11.80 with costs and had guns confiscated. A. A. Jorgenson and Loyd Larson also fined 13.10 plus confiscated guns for hunting without licenses. Social events at Synod Church and season bazaar noted

The Ladies Society of the Synod church invites all to a social in the church basement after noon tomorrow. Mesdames Jens Olson John Dale Erick Glad Ernest Person and A H Hanson will serve. Andrew Johnson and daughter Bettie of Spicer moved to Cokato after visiting here last Thursday. A season bazaar of the Benaca Society at the United Lutheran Synod church will be held Friday evening Nov 21 with articles for sale and lunch served.
