The Sord and Haug families celebrated the golden wedding of Christian Haug born 1840 and Mrs. Haug born 1945 at Zion Lutheran church Pennock. The joint St Johns Lutheran Free and Zion Swedish Lutheran churches organized the surprise. Rev Nicolay Nilsen spoke highlighting their 63 years since their American arrival. Twelve children were born to the couple with six living. A substantial money gift, including silver and gold coins, was presented. A large gathering from Willmar Duluth Chakie and local families attended a banquet after the program.

Kandiyohi County Marine Embarks On Far East Voyage
John Gilbert Holsten of Kandiyohi County Minnesota joined Secretary of the Navy Derby and the Naval class of 1881 aboard the U S S Henderson for a grand voyage to the Orient. The party sailed from Hampton Roads last May visiting the West Indies Panama Honolulu Yokohama Tokyo Shanghai Peking and the Philippines Guam and Hawaii before returning to San Francisco and Hampton Roads. Holsten, son of Mrs Anna Holsten of Pennock, joined the Marines in Kansas City last December and was selected for the Orient voyage.

Two Cars Collide At Litchfield and Viret Streets
Sunday evening at seven o clock two automobiles collided at the corner of Litchfield avenue and Viret Street. A L Smith drove the Chandler and John A Johnson drove the Ford with two other occupants. The Ford was westbound turning south on First while the Chandler traveled east on Litchfield. The Ford hood and both fenders suffered damage. The Chandler pushed the Ford about 15 feet. No injuries were reported.

Death Mired by Fatal Auto Crash Near Thorpe Schoolhouse
A Sunday evening collision near Thorpe Schoolhouse left Mrs. C. H. Limstead of Willmar with serious internal injuries and multiple rib fractures. Involved were Mr. and Mrs. Lunstead in an Overland, their companions Mr. and Mrs. Samuelson and Mrs. Pierce and daughter. Witnesses said a fast car with bright headlights approached from the left, forcing Lunstead toward the road edge, causing the Overland to overturn. Four rear occupants freed themselves through broken doors. Lunstead couple were pinned but later rescued and rushed to Willmar, where Mrs. Lunstead’s injuries were confirmed.
