Sunday Dancing Prohibited by Harrison Board in 1922

Harrison Town Board banned Sunday dancing in public halls within the township and set a $50 annual license fee. Sheriff Bonde warned Diamond Lake pavilion operators to obtain a license before hosting any dances, as many patrons attended last Sunday unaware of the ruling. The Kandiyohi County Farm Loan picnic is set for June 7 at Spicer Park with speeches, dinner, and a band schedule. A group of local youths enjoyed an Eagle Lake outing at Brogren’s cottage with meals and games.

Minne sota Creamery creates 13th district in city

On Thursday morning L. L. Rodege county agent and N. J. Hedlund motored to Glenwood and organized the 13th district of Minnesota Creamery association. They returned the same day. Two cars of butter will be shipped from this city in place of one due to higher butter supply. On Monday Hedlund left for Milwaukee line to start a car filled with butter.

Mission Choir Outing at Eagle Lake on Memorial Day

Mission choir members drove to Eagle Lake for a day of outings at August Hogland cottage on the lake shore. They played ball and enjoyed various amusements followed by a large feed. The event was enjoyed by all attendees.

Class Night Exercises Impress High School Audience

Senior class events at the High School Gym featured Valdla Radue as salutatorian and Charles Davis as valedictorian. An invincible quintet performed three selections while Re na Berkness delivered an original Class Will. Frances Leslie presented readings "Katria Goes to New York" and "Tea Talk" to enthusiastic applause. The farce Case of Suspension proved successful, with the cast receiving commendations.

Schumann Ladies Chorus Glows At Bethel Church Concert

The Schumann Ladies chorus of Gustavus Adolphus College performed at Bethel Lutheran church to a sizable audience last Saturday. Under director Mathew N Lundquist the 21 member group impressed with careful training and notable pieces including The Death of Joan of Arc. Soloists Florence Nelson and Florence Johnson received praise, Violet Hartmann accompanied, and Ruth Pehrson earned audience admiration for her violin artistry. A Fidelis Society lunch and reception followed, and the chorus sang again at Grace Church in Minneapolis Sunday evening to a packed house.

Farm Bureau Picnic At Litchfield On Lake Ripley

The Fourth annual Farm Bureau picnic is set for June 8 on the North Shore of Lake Ripley. Towns will be represented in a horseshoe tournament amid races and sports. An orchestra from Litchfield will perform and speakers from Minneapolia and Redwood Falls attend, with Judge Daly delivering a short address. Free coffee will be served with no admission charge.

Weed Inspectors Take Duty After June Thirteenth

Oswald Gravgaard of New Lonton Alfred and Haraldson of Svea assume weed inspector duties after June 13. Gravgaard covers the county's northern half while Haraldson oversees the southern half. Appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, the inspectors were established by the 1921 Legislature. last year no action was taken, but now every county must arrange for inspectors. Stearns County was the only neighboring county to implement the measure last year. terms run five months.

Memorial Day Observance Draws Large Willmar Crowd

Memorial Day exercises at Willmar drew large crowds to Fairview and at the courthouse stand. A G A R veteran was buried in a military ceremony, with taps and salutes as the flag boreers passed. Col Cushman A Rice requested the interment details. The Sophia L Rice Auxiliary served a dinner to veterans and families. Judge T O Gilbert delivered an eloquent address on the day’s significance. The parade featured schoolchildren and veterans and closed near the courthouse.

Famine Relief Supper Nets $147 At Whitefield School

A communal fair held at District No. 55 Whitefield raised no less than 147 for Russian famine relief. The event featured a fine supper, a program with Rev J B Sorenson speaking, Axel Anderson’s report on famine conditions, and musical numbers. Ray Anderson and wife, originally planning missionary work in Russia, explained their return to the United States. A O Nelson presided.
