Submarine sighting as yet uneventful off coast

A submarine was seen off the coast last night but nothing happened. Mrs. Hoyt learned from her son Ralph in Douglas, Arizona, that the company received orders to join General Pershing's command at Syracuse, New York. It remains unclear if they will go with the first detachments to France or relieve others who will go. Farmers may secure loans at five percent on improved farms from First National Bank of Willmar.

Appeal to Buy U. S. Bonds Promotes Liberty Loan Drive

Kandiyohi County Loyalty League urges all residents to support a seven billion dollar Liberty Bond issue. Citizens are asked to invest through local banks, with bonds issued June 15, 1917 and maturing June 15, 1947. Smaller bonds start at fifty dollars, payable to bearer, larger ones registered, with payments due by noon June 14.

Willmar Seminary Plans Commencement Address

Willmar Seminary will hold commencement in the chapel Saturday evening with twenty one graduates. Rev B E Bergeson of Seattle Washington will deliver the address. The program includes hymns songs solos and class history ending with benediction and a ten cent admission fee.

Veterans honored at First Presbyterian Church service

Eight members of Col. Hey Post G. A. R. attended the Sunday service at First Presbyterian Church. The program included choir anthem, male quartet, and a Merald Tollefson solo. Rev W Bryn Jones spoke on John 4 37 praising Civil War veterans and Lincoln. Alturians elected officers for next year: Mrs R W Hadley president Mrs J A Rowat vice president Mrs Florence Powers secretary Miss Margaret Martin treasurer.

Patriot Day Memorial Program At City Auditorium

Weather favorable for Memorial Day events as a parade forms at 1:30 pm from the courthouse square. Procession travels Fifth Street to Litchfield Avenue and Third Street to Pacific Avenue, ending at Chautauqua Park for band selections, remarks, addresses, and musical performances with admission at ten and fifteen cents. Senator E E Lobeck conducts a Red River Valley speaking tour through July 4 with large, enthusiastic audiences.
