Memorial Day events in Willmar honor fallen soldiers. In the morning volunteers will visit cemeteries to decorate graves led by Col. Hee Moen and the Mousevelt Camp United Spanish War Veterans with the Hatiscom Post of the American Legion present. An afternoon parade begins at five with the Willmar Band Cal Hes Post G A R Roosevelt Camp veterans, Fife and Drum Corps, and World War veterans marching along Meer Ave to Fourth St.

Fatal Vulcanizer Explosion Kills Kavanagh Brother
A vulcanizing shop accident at Kavanagh Brothers on Fifth Street Friday morning fatally injured Thomas J. Kavanagh who died about an hour after the blast. The explosion, caused by a failing steam gauge reading forty pounds, hurled debris wounding him as Michael Kavanagh escaped unhurt. Thomas was rushed to Willmar Hospital where he died at noon.

REQUEST ALL NIGHT LIGHTS FOR ALL-NIGHT STREET ILLUMINATION
A petition to keep street lights burning all night on dark evenings drew about four hundred signatures from business firms and residents. The Water & Light Commission will review the request as aldermen favored granting it. Also taken up were Minnesota Street grading east of Fourth Street and Park Avenue traffic plans with a Park entrance reroute. Three licensing ordinances were advanced to final passage and adopted.
